I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior about 1980. I was raised Free Methodist. I am now attending a Baptist church. 2 of my favorite Bible verses: Psalms 63:1 A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah. O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Dirt bikes hard to start after winter?
I went riding for the first time this year and both my son's and my motorcycles were very hard to start. I have a 2001 Yamaha TTR-225 and my son has a Yamaha 80. I had drained the gas out of the carb before winter as part of winterizing it. I noticed that the spark plug was completely dry after a lot of cranking with the choke on. I finally got them started by removing the spark plug, putting a bit of gas in the cylinder, starting it and repeating this about 5 times when it stalled. From then on, they both started great the rest of the day.
So, I kind of think that since there was no gas in the carb from winterizing, maybe that's the problem? Is there a way to prime it, or do you have any tips for staring it for the first time in the season?
Thanks,
Mike
6 AntwortenMotorcyclesvor 1 JahrzehntDoes a DSi XL seem big for a 9 year old?
My son is considering a DSi or a DSi XL. He likes the idea of the XL, but is afraid the XL would seem kind of big or heavy. Anyone have kids that like the DSi XL?
3 AntwortenOther - Games & Gearvor 1 JahrzehntIf you believe "saved by works", what do you think?
I see questions about saved by grace vs saved by works. Then lots of verses are posted about works and grace.
We cannot pick and choose Bible verses though. I'm curious what the "saved by works" crowd thinks these verses mean? I expect you have an idea of what these mean and I haven't heard it yet. What do you think?
Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— (9) not by works, so that no one can boast.
Romans 5:15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
2 Timothy 1:10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Galatians 2:16 know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.
I'm fine if you just take one, or all. Thanks for your thoughts!
17 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - Why do you have farms and fairlds websites?
The game is that LDS ask questions to other Christians, we reply, then we get thumbs down and are called anti-Mormon and stuff. I'm OK with that. We disagree and I understand. Protestants play that game with LDS too.
I sort of don't understand the response to these questions though:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjOaV...
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Akpoj...
My intended reply to these questions is that protestants have checks and balances to make sure that seeking truth from the Holy Spirit is not counterfeit and we need to look at other evidence for truth as well.
I expected the response to not be popular, but it seems like looking for evidence is frowned upon and LDS expect the Holy Spirit to supply truth. Isn't the farms and fairlds websites doing pretty much what I was saying, or am I totally missing the point?
My answer was received far more negative than I expected, so I'm just curious why.
Thanks for anyone willing to give me a clue.

10 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - what is your interpretation of Ephesians 2:8-10?
This is quoted quite often. I hear James 2:17 and similar verses quoted in reply quite often. I'm curious what you think "Not by works" means though. Do you consider "not by works" incorrect, or interpreted wrong or ?
The same idea is reflected here:
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
I don't mean offense, I'm just really curious what you think being saved "not by works" means.
Thanks,
Mike
14 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - I have a question about the Godhead.?
Most LDS I talk to say there is a Godhead made up of three Gods with one purpose. I don't see that in the Book of Mormon though. I only see "one God" and not "one purpose". Would you explain what you believe regarding this to me?
Thanks.
2 Nephi 31:21 "...And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is ONE God, without end. Amen
Alma 11:28-29 "28 Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God?
29 And he answered, No.
"
Alma 11:44 "...and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is ONE Eternal God..."
Mosiah 15:1-5 "1 And now Abinadi said unto them: I would that ye should understand that God himself shall come down among the children of men, and shall redeem his people.
2 And because he dwelleth in flesh he shall be called the Son of God, and having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Son—
3 The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son—
4 And they are ONE God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth.
5 And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, suffereth temptation, and yieldeth not to the temptation, but suffereth himself to be mocked, and scourged, and cast out, and disowned by his people."
Doctrine and Covenants 20:28:
"Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are ONE God, infinite and eternal, without end. Amen"
(How many infinite Gods can fit in one infinite space?)
18 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - What evidence is there that the Book of Mormon events historically happened?
What I've understood from LDS is that I need to pray about if the Book of Mormon is true. That's about all I'm given to tell if it's true and the events took place.
With the Bible:
Archeology confirms that the coins mentioned in the Bible are there, The wall of Jerusalem was found, The wall of Jericho, types of boats described and on and on.
Geography: We can take Holy Land tours and see the places talked about.
Outside sources: There are other ancient documents that talk about the same events and people.
I've seen references and pictures of these things.
If the Book of Mormon is true and there were civilizations the size of Rome talked about, we should expect these kinds of things to be found.
I don't know of any evidence of horses and chariots found for that time period in America. I don't know of any documents listing the Nephites, or any findings of the coins used or anything. Would you let me know of a museum or something that I could see these?
Thanks,
Mike
15 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - What is your interpretation of Matt 7:13-15?
Matthew 7:13-15 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. (14) But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (15) "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
It's my understanding that LDS believe in 3 degrees of glory. Everyone makes it to one of the 3 degrees of glory except the sons of perdition, which are people who have denied the Holy Spirit after having received it (Doctrine and Covenants 76:35).
It seems to me that the three degrees of glory contradicts what Jesus is saying in Matthew 7:13-15. How do you interpret it?
19 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - Is Satan a hero?
Regarding this question:

It looks like you believe that Adam and Eve made a good choice. Satan talked them into the transgression. Do you believe Satan is a hero here for talking them into it, or am I misunderstanding?
6 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - what is different about your gospel?
From the mormon.org website - "In 1820, as He had done throughout history, Father in Heaven again chose a prophet to restore the gospel and the priesthood to the earth."
LDS claim to have restored the gospel. Therefore, it is a different one than the one I believe in since I believe in the Bible, right? When I try to point out differences to LDS members though, I'm told that it is the same gospel as in the Bible. But then I'm told that the Bible has been compromised because of apostasy over the years and I cannot rely on it.
So, I'm kind of confused on what you believe. What is the gospel according to you? What part of the gospel has been restored and how is the gospel of the Bible wrong according to LDS?
Thank-you
17 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntLDS - Does Alma 11:43-46 contradict 1 Corinthians 15:35-50?
Alma 11:43-46 says we will be resurrected with a physical body.
1 Corinthians 15:35-50 says we will be resurrected with a spiritual body and flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven.
How do you reconcile the two, or do you believe 1 Corinthians 15 is not translated correctly or what do you think about these?
Thanks.
