If the French Revolution was a byproduct of atheism, what will happen if the USA went that route?

Update:

So, Voltaire, La Mettrie, d'Holbach, De Sade, Robespierre, and others had no influence with the underlying philosophy out of which teh Revolution arose?

Actually, the French Revolution was a byproduct of class conflict and royal absolutism.

I think you mean that atheism was a byproduct of the French Revolution, as it arose due to the clergy allying against the masses and with the nobility.

But even if there was a lower-class revolution in America, I have no reason to believe that this country would go atheist overnight. It's actually the poorer communities that tend to be more religious.

The French Revolution was a byproduct of the American War of Independence, and the fact that France was broke having spent bags of money supporting the Americans against the British. There was also an inequitable tax system that had never been reformed properly and food prices were too high.

King Louis 14 had made all the aristocrats live nearby him at Versailles to prevent them from getting independent ideas. That meant they perforce neglected their estates and failed to finance new businesses because they were in Paris or nearby most of the time. By the time Louis 16 took the throne things were in a bad way.

In England, the opposite was the case. The British aristocracy mainly lived on their estates and generally looked after things a lot better, the also financed new businesses and improved roads and bridges locally. They mostly went to London for 'the season' which was several weeks in the spring - summer when they tried to get their adult children married off. That was also when the British parliament sat. The rest of the time they were usually on their estates. Some financed the early stages of the industrial revolution in England, for example the Duke of Bridgewater financed the digging of canals to inmprove transport.

If the USA goes broke, taxes are crazy insane, all the wealthy live in one or a few areas and food prices become higher than an ordinary worker can afford, then look out. Until that time, there will be no revolution.

first: The french revolution wasn't a byproduct of atheism

second: USA already have a Constitution and democracy

Edit: yes philosophers like Voltaire and Rousseau had an influence on the french revolution, but they were not a direct cause.. and how you link them to atheism is beyond me..

The French revolution had nothing to do with atheism.

It was a revolt against the royalty and aristocracy that ruled the country.

Saying the French Revolution resulted from atheism is simplifying it way too much. There was an oppressive monarchy and widespread poverty, for example.

The French Revolution was in no way a product of Atheism. No reputable historian would claim otherwise.
