What could cause a cat to lose it's hair on it's hind quarters?

This has been noticed on two strays in the area. It is a gradual loss, something like if they were going bald.  Thank you.

Most likely fleas as they are stray cats, but also cats can lick at themselves too much when they are stressed and gradually cause baldness.

Possible flea allergy dermatitis.  This can cause hair loss over the back end and hindquarters due to overgrooming of the itchy areas by the cat.

It could be a number of things (fleas, mites, allergies, mange). You need to make an appointment with your vet to be sure what the problem is and to treat it before it gets out of hand.

Flea allergy. If they were dogs I would say mange, but not sure if cats get that.
