"Big Bang Experiment" for Dummies, and a poll.?

1. Two particles colliding at near the speed of light cannot produce enough energy to cause an explosion of any concern.

2. A black hole is an astronomical amount of super-condensed matter, and two particles are not enough mass to create a black hole.

Relax, k?

Now, I'm curious to know:

A. Are you worried that the CERN experiment will cause a big bang?

B. Do you believe the universe was created by a supernatural being or beings?

C. Do you believe the Big Bang occurred?

Update:

Awesome. Thanks folks.

The big bang wasn't an explosion. It wasn't even a fast expansion, was rather slow.

Any black hole they create, if they do at all, will be a micro black hole and will not last more than a fraction of a second. The first experiment they will do in several weeks time happens all the time in our atmosphere without our help - why should I be worried.

    A. No. That's ridiculous.

    B. No. That's ridiculous.

    C. I accept the Big Bang occurred due to evidence.

    1) Um, that depends on their actual speed. The amount of energy involved in the collision increases geometrically as their speed approaches that of light. That's also why the LHC is so enormously huge.

    2) Subatomic black holes CAN be created this way. In fact, I think that has already happened in large colliders.

    A. No.

    B. No.

    C. Yes.

    A. not at all.

    B. yes, God!

    C. "Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."

and God said "Let the be light, and there was light!" I guess a big bang could cause a lot of light but God's "methods" of creation are not known to me at this time and it doesn't really matter anyway. I trust in what His Word tells us and it is enough.

    A. No, it will cause a little (microscopic) bang that simulates the Big Bang on a scale scientists can study..

    B. No

    C. Yes

    A. Not worried about the experiment.

    B. Universe was created by a supernatural being. Uni means "one." Verse means "spoken sentence." The universe = a single spoken sentence. God said, "Let there be" and here we are!

    C. The Big Bang is for morons who deny both God and science.

    A. I don't know much about it so i haven't got any opinions on the subject

    B. NO :)

    C. Most probably, not 100% sure but then again, i am not 100% sure about anything at all.

    A) no

    B) no

    C) I'd say all the observational evidence points in that direction, yes.
