How is BDSM treated in your religion?
We all know how homosexuality is a hot topic in some faiths, but I am interested in how BDSM is treated. Specifically, tell your religion and cite any references to BDSM in the holy text. Also tell if BDSM is preached against. (FYI: BDSM is bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism - you know, kink.) Atheists, also feel free to discuss the issue according to whatever morality you follow. This issue has been on my mind since my college days when I did a paper on the subject and found out that the majority of kinky folk are also religious. One day, I hope to find out if there is a significant correlation there, or if it is just an interesting coincidence.
I'll start the ball rolling. I am Christian, and while I find that clergy almost unanimously condemn BDSM as a sin, there is not one verse of the Bible that comes close to discussing it.

I'm a Christian...and personally, I see nothing wrong with BDSM as long as it doesn't consume a person (become an obsession), and as long as it's consensual. I don't believe the Bible says anything either way.

If The Other Person Is Into It However (Pursuant To #4), Then Have At It, Take Pictures, And For The Love Of Mike, Wear A CONDOM! Honestly It's A Piece Of Rubber, If I Didn't Want It To Feel Good When You Did It I Would Have Added Spikes, Or Something.

answer: it's not covered in the lore. In modern Heathenism there's a feeling of, "Whatever consensual adults do is fine." I've met several into BDSM in the pagan and Heathen communities. There can be an attitude to look down on submissives in Heathenism, especially among the males. It's not common though.

I'm an atheist, and I have no problem with anyone being into BDSM short of it being part of a psychological complex or something like that. I've played on the fringes myself, but I'm not much of a fetishist, personally.

Take a look at some of the things Christians used on heretics during the Inquisition and the Witch Trials, then tell me that BDSM is not something thats been practiced in Christianity.

My neighbor (that i love like myself of course) seems to be into BDSM.
He has pictures and little statuettes of guys being tortured. They are attached to a cross with blood all over or they walk carrying a cross while soldiers beat them.
I do find it a bit weird, but whatever rocks his boat is fine...

Consenting adults can do whatever they like to and with each other - none of my business.
