So I've been researching my family tree on Ancestry for quite a while, and there's a line that I want to make sure is accurate.

The first is Elizabeth Livermore, my 5X great-grandmother, who married Benajah Putnam (descendant of the Putnam family of Salem Town/Danvers "fame"). The sources for the marriage are Massachusetts marriage records. I also have town and vital records for her birth in 1745, which includes the name of her parents, Jonas Livermore and Elizabeth (Rice).

For Elizabeth Rice, I have town and vital records for her birth in 1713, which includes the name of her parents, Elisha and Elizabeth (Wheeler) Rice.

For Elizabeth Wheeler, I have Massachusetts marriage records, which includes the date of her marriage to Elisha Rice, and I also have town and vital records which includes the name of her parents, Obadiah Wheeler and Elizabeth (White). Her name is also recorded in Mayflower records, since her mother is apparently the granddaughter of William White, who came over on the Mayflower.

For Elizabeth White, I found a Family Data Record with the name of her parents, Resolved White and Judith Vassall or Vassal.

Resolved White was the son of William White and Susanna (maiden name unknown). Susanna became the first European woman to marry in the colony, to Edward Winslow in May 1621.

Are these reliable enough records to use, and if so, are they enough to prove descent from Mayflower pilgrims?

In tracing my husband's line as well as my own, I found that we share ancestors: My 8th great-grandparents, Peleg Tripp and Anne Sisson, are also his 10th great-grandparents. I know this makes us distant cousins; just not sure of the degree of relation. Can someone help me out please?

So my dad's maternal grandparents are impossible to figure out. I found them in the 1900 census, and it's definitely them, because it's the right place, the ages are correct, and my grandmother's siblings are all listed (except her and her younger siblings, who were all born after 1900). I've also matched them in the 1910 census, in the same place, and 1920. So yes, it's verified that they're the right people. Here's the problem:

In 1900, it says they've been married for 10 years, and they have three kids (Sarah, Columbus, and Bessie). It doesn't list my great-grandfather's age, but it has my great-grandmother's age as 33, which is about right, because according to records I've found of her (census 1900, 1910, and 1920), she was born in 1866 or 1867. However, if they'd been married for 10 years, that would have made my great-grandfather *12* when they married (he was born in 1878; I found him in the 1880 census), and she would have been 22. Even in 1890 in Arkansas, this would not have been acceptable.

So how is this possible? Was she maybe married once before him and there's just no record of it, and those three were his step-children, and they just decided not to try to explain the situation to the census taker? That's the only thing I can think of. The other problem is that I can't find my great-grandmother in any records before 1900. Does anyone have any ideas on resources? I have a subscription on Ancestry and have performed multiple searches. Please and thank you.

Say, the one person's 10th great-grandparents are the same as someone else's 11th great-grandparents, what is the degree of relation? I'm thinking 10th or 11th cousins once removed. Am I close?

I've been having this problem for several days on several different pages.

I don't have a virus. I haven't been hacked. Javascript is working. I have very few extensions installed (Social Fixer for Facebook and that's it, other than Javascript and Flashplayer). And this is a new computer (had it a little over two months now). I've tried a Google search but haven't been able to find anything. I've also tried restarting my computer, no change.

Would someone help, please? How do I fix this?

I know this has been asked a million times, but would it be possible to swap out my ATI Radeon 4570 graphics card for something a little better? Or is the graphics card completely integrated, so it can't be replaced?

I've done a Google search but can't find an answer. Some say it can be swapped out, some say it can't be, but they're all talking about different models and graphics cards.

Is it possible that the two witnesses are institutions rather than literal people, and the abilities that they're imbued with (such as killing with fire if anyone tries to harm them, raining down plagues, preventing rain, etc.) are symbolic rather than literal? Do you think this view is heretical or completely incompatible with the text? Who do you personally think the two witnesses are, if you've speculated about it?

I have a friend who owes child support to two different people (not her fault, everything that could go wrong has, and she hasn't been able to work for several years, which means she has no money). Her husband, whom she just married a little less than two months ago, is in the Army and has orders for Germany.

She was told by someone that she can't go, because she owes child support, and in the state of Washington it's not possible to leave the country (even for something like joining her Army husband) while owing child support. My own husband was Army, but we're not familiar with the rules regarding something like this.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is there anything I can tell her that will help her? She's willing to make payments, but apparently that's not good enough for one of the two to whom she owes child support, which is a whole other story. :(

Why is it, when people are looking for a logical explanation for Jesus' birth, they come up with all kinds of theories, and ignore the obvious?

For example, on here I've seen the following theories:

Mary was a hermaphrodite (!)

Mary was raped by a Roman soldier

Mary had an affair

Mary had sex with Joseph's best friend

Mary didn't exist, the whole thing is a myth

Aliens (!)

etc.

Why do very few people come up with the most obvious alternative explanation, which is that Mary and Joseph had sex before marriage, and Jesus was the son of Joseph?

For my fellow Christians, I'm not saying that's what I personally believe. I'm just wondering why skeptics towards the story tend not to subscribe to that explanation, and instead choose from one of the above.

I'm hoping the question is clear enough. I'm afraid I might not be expressing myself very well.

Also, what is your denomination please?

After all, museums like the Smithsonian could sell all their exhibits, and feed all the starving people in the world several times over. So is this a good suggestion? Why should museums and libraries be able to hoard all these treasures, when they can sell them to provide for others?

My cat is about seven years old, spayed, has all of her shots, and I just took her for her check-up a few months ago (so she's not due for her annual check-up for another five months). Last week, she threw up and was off-balance for a couple minutes afterward; we thought it was a fluke so we let it go. But she just did it again a little while ago.

She doesn't seem to be running a fever. Her balance is fine now. Her appetite is normal. She's a bit more affectionate than usual, but other than that, she's not acting any different. She'll play if she's given something to play with. She's wearing a collar, but it isn't tight (I can fit two fingers under it).

If anyone needs more information, ask. I'm thinking of taking her to the vet tomorrow just to be sure.

What I mean is, are you or were you on good terms with them?

I'd also like to know, if you don't mind sharing, whether or not you and your parents share/shared the same opinion on religion.

The purpose of this question is *not* to debate any aspect of the existence or non-existence of Jesus the Christ or Jesus the man. It's just a question of why some people claim that Josephus was born 40 years after Jesus was supposed to have been crucified.

How would you react if you met Mary the mother of Jesus face to face? Just go with it for a moment, and imagine that she's just appeared in whatever kind of room you're sitting in, and she's already greeted you by name. How would you react to her? Would you kiss her hand and thank her for what she did? Would you hug her? Would you ask her to pray for you? What kinds of questions would you ask her? Use as much or as little detail as you want.

I'm just curious. I think meeting her is kind of a cool thought.

While this is especially for Christians, people of other faiths (and lack thereof) are also welcome to answer, so long as you assume that the Mary who visits you is the woman who gave birth to the Son of God.

Why is it that when the newspaper reports rape and incest as having occurred to various people, it's not pornographic, but when the Bible does exactly the same thing, it's considered "porn"?

I know that not all people do this, but I mostly see this from some Muslims and atheists. I'm wondering how it works. Why is it one thing in the paper, and another in the Bible? Regardless of whether or not the Bible is the "word of God", shouldn't it be judged exactly the same as any other manuscript, instead of held to a different standard? If it shouldn't, why not?

It's a *fact* that the Bible is a collection of manuscripts. It is a *belief* that these books are the word of God. So why the double standard?

And I really am trying to understand, not trying to cause discord. I want to know.
