what do you think about this judgings ruling?

A recent court decision in Canada should send chills down every parent's spine. The ruling is so out of bounds that the news story sounds like a parody -- but it isn't. A Canadian judge ruled that a 12-year-old girl was "excessively" punished when her father told her she could not go on a school camping trip because she had broken rules for use of the Internet.

As the Globe and Mail [Toronto] reports:

First, the father banned his 12-year-old daughter from going online after she posted photos of herself on a dating site. Then she allegedly had a row with her stepmother, so the father said his girl couldn't go on a school trip.

The girl took the matter to the court - and won what lawyers say was an unprecedented judgment.

Madam Justice Suzanne Tessier of the Quebec Superior Court ruled on Friday that the father couldn't discipline his daughter by barring her from the school trip.

Update:

I met judges ruling- sorry. I am so upset over this. What is wrong with this world. A father took away a trip because the daughter disobeyed him. What happened to parental authority, I am sick at heart

Update 2:

about the girl posting her pic on a dating site- I have no idea, and why would a judge agree that the father's discipline was harsh, when the father was banning her from the internet to protect her.

Update 3:

Gorgeous Texas, I am sorry, I meant to give you a thumbs up and instead pushed thumbs down, It is getting late, think I need to go to sleep

You have received some really good answers and I appreciate you asking this question. It breaks my heart to see the direction the world is taking. Now parents are afraid to discipline their children and in Canada, they can't even ground their children without being taken to court. The governments of this world have left God out and fallen into the thinking they know best. Sounds like Lucifer, doesn't it?

The sin of rebellion is strong in our world and this is just one more indication that we live in a fallen world. But as Christians we know that our hope is in Christ Jesus and He told us to look up when we see these signs for He is coming soon. He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world. So we can rejoice even when the world persecutes us for being Christians and standing for God's laws.

I am so encouraged that there are so many Christians who are willing to stand for Jesus Christ. Your question shows that even though our enemy is raging, God's people are standing strong. Thank you for asking this question!

This is all a part of the nanny state mentality we're being pushed into in the west...it's quite bad in the UK too.

Parents should be in control of their children's discipline, this shouldn't EVER be questioned unless clearly excessive physical force is used as a punishment (giving them a swift clip round the ear isn't excessive..punching them is).

What's even more bizarre is school discipline, a child can literally get away with breaking the rules at least 4 times per day before any consequences befall them, and the consequence is that their parents are called and the child has to explain why. When I was at school if you so much as fidgeted in your seat while you were supposed to be working you got detention, no second chances, no excuses and detention didn't just mean going home late it meant being lectured for half an hour or more about how stupid you were and how your behavior needed to change for the better.

The other bizarre point about all this is everyday we get told about "hoodies" causing trouble and wanting to blame their parents for not controlling them while at the same time taking away their parent's ability to control them.

You are right to be upset - Canada, the Country of Crap (spiritually speaking) believes from a governmental viewpoint that parents do NOT have rights. Thus, you can see what unrighteous judgments flow from such a spirit.

Even most professing Christians say we should 'obey the government', which is tantamount to saying 'WORSHIP THE BEAST'. Daniel didn't bow, when almost all others were bowing to the BEAST!

Sadly the Western 'church' today does not have the spirit of Daniel - in truth, the Holy Spirit - they have another spirit and another gospel.

You might be one of the few Christians 'upset' with and decrying this antiChrist decision, handed down by a female - who should NOT be ruling over men/fathers/families - and an antiChrist female at that!

I am glad that you brought this to our attention.

To comment on the girl and those who supported her REBELLION - which is a demon - except they repent, which does NOT look likely - they shall perish in Hell with the demons they serve.

Personally, everyone wonders why kids today are increasingly getting worse. Today, kids have no punishment, no consequences and feel they can do whatever. Even parents are limited with their discipline as today the kids have all the power. ♠ What message is the court sending to the child who was clearly in the wrong? That if you disagree with your parents punishment come to the courts and we will fix it for you!!!!! It doesn't matter about the two sides to every story, a 12 y/o has no business posting any pics of herself on the internet let alone a dating site. Especially knowing that child predators are lurking in every corner of the internet. It is disgusting how a parent is punished for trying to protect his child. I guess in Canada child rapists and molesters are few and far in between. (sarcasm) all I think about is karla homolka and her husband (whatever the spelling) and they weren't even on the internet but abducting young girls right from school parking lots in broad daylight. The judge should have charges brought up on himself for stupidity and putting a child in danger.

As a survivor of rape, this really pisses me off!

and heaven forbid something should have happened to his daughter by means of that dating site or other inappropriate for a 12 year old happening - he would have been the first scrutinized by the cops. while i think it's deplorable by the cops - i wonder how they are raising the girl at home. sadly it seems like she's rebelling against the dad for not having her "mom" (seeminglt the dad has custody).

i really don't get where this world is going..... everyone wants "big brother" to leave them alone and keep their nose out of my business and yet.... they want then to take over when things get tough. this little girl will be in for a rude awakening and the judge - she should have been ordered to PAY for the trip since the girls bad baheviour certianly didn't win her the funds for the trip!

Please don't fall apart at this, because worse things are yet to happen, most of the worlds population are sick in there minds and no longer have sensible direction, we have in fact governments that employ people just a hairs width from going to the nut farms, these often do not know wrong from right for we have all strayed so far from our Creator God Almighty thinking we don't need him, that we now are reaping just punishments. we have allowed evil people to run our countries based on greed and Gain for a few and then poverty and damn the rest, Satan is the real God of this currant world System and Satan hates us beyond comprehension, this adds up to twisted Judges and nearly all of the people whom we should be able to rely upon.

At this point the father might think that any discipline for

his child will be handled by the court.

I wonder did the court agree with her posting her pictures

    on a Dating Site?

If she is thinking like that... God knows what she would be

    doing on that Camping Trip!

Not knowing the full story, I have to say that it's the judge's fault to allowing this lawsuit in court to begin with. She is only 12, so how did she go about taking her parents to court? As long as her parents did cage her up or beat her, she had no right to take them to court. Many lawsuits are stupid and not worth the time and money.

I can forsee a day when children are taking their parents to court if they can't get their way at home. I can also forsee a day when people stop having kids in fear of having their good record and reputation tarnished over a spoiled rotten brat!

I think parents are losing control and I'm glad I had my kids when I did. I do fear that my kids will have a horrible time with theirs and there is nothing I can do to help.

She is only 12 years old! Way to young for a dating site! Yes, take away her Internet use. I was grounded when I was younger. Children need to know their are consequences for bad behavior. I am quite frankly shocked at this Judges ruling!
