Balloon molly aquarium size...?

I recently got a three balloon mollies (sp?) and two blue gourami for an aquarium I thought was a 30 Gallon.

It turns out to be a 20 gal tall aquarium, and I have noticed the fish are a bit competitive when it comes to feeding. By my calculation, I have one inch of fish too many with the two mystery snails that I already had since starting the tank.

So my question is: do I need to upgrade to a 30 gallon (I would rather not have to, to be honest) to keep these fish happy, as one caresheet I found said that was the minimum for balloon mollies.

So, I could use some pointers here for damage control. On the plus size, this hasn't overwhelmed my filter as far as having clean water.

Update:

Is it true the gourami will eat the other fish? I asked the guy at the pet store to show me more peaceful fish.

So, ummm...

Lets start by telling you that 20 gallon for Ballon mollies is ok if you were only going to have just 3. Being a trio I hope they are all the same sex. If your nmot sure then look under the fish just below the belly if there is a tube it is a male if not then its a female. If one of these is a male then your going to have to get a larger thank since Balloon Mollies have babies all the time. I raise Balloon Mollies so this I know for fact. Mollies are going to compete for food they do in my tanks but not to the point of kill. As far as putting in other fish I think you will have to upgrade since it is just a 20 gallon. Mollies need salt in their water buy some marine salt and follow dircetions. I put 1 teaspoon per 2 gallons and mine thrive and flurish and are very happy and produce like wild fire. Do 20 % water changes weekly , do not over feed, temps at about 77 degrees F , use a gravle syphon to clean bottom , change filters and carbon every 2 weeks. Make sure to use some sorts of stress coat when doing water change and be very careful in temp. Slowly add water bacvk threw out the day to keep from ick and other harmfuls. Also Mollies love to hide and play so keep plenty of plants , rocks , slate , caves what have you depending on your size.

I have 2 balloon belly mollies and 2 dalmation mollies and one black molly in a 20 gallon tank. There are 4 females and one male. They eat twice a day(morning and at night) and are doing great. The pet store I bought them from told me every one fish in a tank per galloon of water. I think that would be too many fish in a tank. I think you might be fine with the 20 galloon tank. If your fish are happy , that`s all that matters!

You will be fine with the tank size. Try adding some plants or objects to allow the fish to separate from one another. As far as feeding them and the competition of eating, I wouldn't worry about it. Most people feed their fish WAY TOO MUCH and that is why they get sick and the tank gets dirty. They can go weeks without food as long as they have water. I only feed my tropical fish twice a week and I have tetras that are 7 years old. I even have a five year old zebra in a small coffee pot on my desk at work. He has never been fed on a weekend. Usually only on Fridays and Tuesday.

hai, so if you have this blue gourami, you would be over crowd especially if you got two of them. i would suggest you on going to have only one blue gourami and those three balloon mollies would be best, if you got it a mix of 2-female and 1-male, then, soon you'll get some fries and would be overcrowd your tank but you will going to let them just ate but your gourami and even your mollies then you will just fine, if you got all females mollies, then your still going good but if you have all males, then they will going to chase sooner. your gourami will also going to eat your mollies sooner, cuz your gouramis are semi aggressive fish. i would sugguest you getting a 30 gallon. and many hiding and plants. i hope this helps. the guy lied so take the goldfish again. they do no longer pass with the others. confer with the governmentowner and tell them the guy lied.... they're coldwater and choose 25 gallons in step with fish to stay. they'll do no longer some thing yet poop and kill the guppies and mollies.
