Is $1000 a month too much to spend on a girlfriend?

I've been with my girlfriend for a little over 6 months have spent about $6,000 or so going out with her.  Take into Christmas and Valentine's Days fall into that 6 month period.

Some people I work with seem to find that amount absurd.

I guess it depends why you are doing it. If you feel like you are doing it to keep her happy then yes its too much money. I hope she appreciates every gift and thing you do for her and doesn't expect it.
I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years and I don't think he has spend not even half of that amount!!

Easy way to make people stop judging: don't discuss dollar amounts with them. Since you already have, just say that you thought it over carefully and felt your decision was fine. Then say no more about it. 
It depends on the kind of relationship and how much you earn and how much she spends on you and a hundred other random things. If you and she are fine with it, it's fine.

Considering that for $30 a month, you could support one child through world vision, then your girlfriend is worth 33 poor, needy children's lives!

Dude, when I get out of school, I wouldn't probably earn near that amount to spend on my girl in a year (until I finish college).

Yes, but different srokes for different folks, it it works for you keep doing it dont live up to other peoples expectations. Beware that your habit will turn into a way of life if you dont spend money on her anymore, will she still love you, is she in love with you or the money that you shower her with? Only you and her know what works and what doesn't.........

LOL  Where do you live?  Let me know when you are single..... just playing.  If YOU feel comfortable doing so - then its ok  Say it don't work out - would you still be comfortable with the amount you spent?

thats crazy man if the woman loves u she aint goona care if u spend 10 or a million dollars on her. if she is your lover than u can find other ways to express ur love to her and let her know that she is special. then on the other hand man if u have that type of money to blow and it aint goona put you in debt then i sont see why not
