Grandfather clock won't chime?

Question

I have a grandfather clock which keeps perfect time.  It has one wieght which drives the clock, and two weights which operate the chimes.  The two weights which are supposed to operate the chimes will not drop.  I have checked that is IS set to chime ( the chimes are not turned off)

Any suggestions?!

Has the clock been moved recently?  The chain that the weights are attached to normally go over the top of a gear inside the clock.  It sounds like the chain has locked up inside, or has come off the gear.  Look inside and you will see where the chain should go.  Make sure it is over the top of the gear and give it a try.

it may be that a gear is missing a/some teeth
