Why do so many Americans believe that this is their Yahoo! answer? I thought this was UK&Ireland!!!!?

Because Americans think they own everything!!

It might be that Yahoo should make this clearer, but by default Yahoo Answers are grouped by language. All countries whose primary language is English will default to English AS WELL AS those countries whose language is not directly supported, such as the Philippines.

Remember this. Clicking on the flags does NOT change this. What clicking on the flags does do is allow you to click on ADVANCED up there by the search button and choose and then click the little box and make it your new default.

I much prefer not to isolate myself this way and instead to just bear in the mind that Questions and Answers will be seen all over this spaceship we call earth. I may even give Metric/English equivelents in my answers or explain some things I know the other countries inhabitants MAY NOT be familiar with.

IF YOU DO choose to isolate yourself by making those Advanced search changes that is your choice. But until you do please don't blame everyone else.

Slow down buddy, I agree with some of the others that say the English speaking yahoo is together and if you want to be on just one countries site, you need to click the flag at the bottom.

Let me say this though, knowledge is power...we all come here to ask and help others, what should it matter what country we are from? I, for one, am glad I get answers and questions from all English speakers, especially those from other countries...do you know why??? Well, I like to know others opinions, duh...that's why we are here...sometimes it is much clearer to those on the "outside" to see sides I would have never thought of because I am an American....plus don't get so pissed at Americans...I am Native American...that means my family was already here when the country was "discovered" from our mother country across the pond, and I have to deal with them now...so get over it, this is one reason people of different races, backgrounds, and ethnic origins have trouble understanding each other...this prejudice...and if we would all just be residents of our Earth, things would be much better for us all....

I think USA and Uk residents are automatically directed to this version (for all English speakers)
