#1) you can rewrite the equation by taking away the first set of () and then distribute the negative sign into the 2nd set to get rid of them (so all the + signs in the 2nd set of () would become -'s). Then you'll + or - (in this case, subtract) all like terms: for instance, 3a4 - 2a4 = a4, -2a2 - 4a2 = -6a2, etc.
#2) This is a little more complex. Do you know the FOIL method? F=first, O=outside, I=inside, L=last. So you multiply the terms in each set of () in that order. For instance, first multiply 2e x 2f = 4ef (that's the FIRST set of terms); then multiply the two outside terms: 2e x 8; then the two inside terms: -2f x 2f; then the two last terms, -2f x 8.
