Sometimes when I want something from a site it says it needs to download ControlX or something like that...?
but Internet Explorer wont let it...even when I tell it to allow for the download it wont....this one site I have always gone to and used without a problem and now it wont work cause of this...how can I get around this so the site will work? Its a site for playing games online etc.

Two things 1) tools/internet options / privacy settings may be blocking things. Set the level different. http://www.download.com/ActiveX-Download-Control/3...
I don't know why there seems to be a charge, I never paid anything.
2) I never use Internet Explorer unless I have to, please try Mozilla Foxfire. You don't have to keep it or use it, but when Microsoft jams you up that's the time to try alternatives.

Well, sometimes it gets annoying.
But that what makes your browsing safer.
To allow it, click on the bar and choose ALLOW BLOCKED CONTENT.
If still don't show up, try refreshing the page.
It's kinda like a prevention for malware and spyware to come in to your computer. You can set it in "INTERNET OPTIONS."
But if you set it too high, it'll block almost everything. Including Windows Update.
My advice:
Install / Allow it only when you really want it or asked for it.

it is ActiveX. your security setting may be to high. other than that you may have to use firefox. it give you the option to manually install the activex component
