Would you enjoy living permanently in a bahay kubo?

Even if you could afford any housing whatsoever. Why or why not? Do you feel people look down on the one living in a bahay kubo?

I love living in a bahay kubo but make sure it's situated in a place far from the city and will that make me feel less class, absolutely not! I'm a low profile kind of panda, i mean person.

no, but i always want a house which has a bahay kubo as an annex.

its a welcome refuge during hot afternoons. I have a rattan hammock fixed in there and i would spend the rest of the afternoon just lying there, with a good book or my laptop.

when you go around the philippines, you'll see that most houses which has an extra space always have some sort of a bahay kubo somewhere at the backyard or the frontyard.

its where people gather for coffee early morning or snack in the afternoon.

I love to live in a bahay kubo, but permanently? nah i dont think so. i only love living in a bahay kubo during the summer because i know its safer. but during rainy season where there are big typhoons coming, i dont really think i would like that, especially we know that the building foundation of a bahay kubo is not as strong as concrete. i prefer to live with safety first :)

Well, one can always modify a 'bahay kubo' or nipa hut to make it attractive and comfortable. But to live in one permanently, I don't know. I don't think anyone has a right to look down on people living in a nipa hut because it might be their choice or were just forced to because it is the only one they can afford. As long as the house looks nice and clean, I guess it is okay.

YES. So long as there's a wide field outside, with no one in it.

And there's a flowing stream nearby. I like peace and quiet.

I don't feel people look down on the one living in a bahay kubo. Because they don't see him at all. Either he's asleep inside or drinking beer, or he's out fishing in the stream.

  • depends on where i'm living. if it's in a rural coastline, then living in a bahay kubo will definitely be not much of a problem as a matter of fact it will be the best type of house because i canuse the climate to an advantage. but here in manila??? no way. this is an urban jungle suffering from air pollution so it is not advisable to live in such a house. i'll suffer from lung ailments.

Nah, I'd rather stay here in my flat, where free pizza and cases of booze are just a phone call away.
