crash pad: single or bunk beds?
When you pick a crash pad, do you prefer a single bed or $50-cheaper bunk beds?
What do you need in a crash pad?
cable TV? internet? washer/dryer?
what is important for you?
I'd appreciate, if you'd not answer if you don't understand my question: I'm looking for the opinion of flight crew only. Thanks!

As far as crash pads go, the cheaper the better. I had an old mattress on the floor which worked fine. A coffeemaker and a decent fridge and access to a washer/dryer is about all that you'll need. Cable TV might help keep your sanity if you'll be sitting reserve a lot.
Don't make it too comfortable. After all, it's only a place to snag a few zzz's between trips.

What do you need? A shower & a bed. Anything else is extra!
Get the cheapest pad available (as long as it is clean!). $200 or under of you can do it. Single beds are nice but what can you afford? My old crash pad had all the females in one room in single beds (like the Brady Bunch). Bunks were for the guys. It may be best to pay a small difference for a location close to the airport with good transportation- ESPECIALLY if you are on reserve with a short call out.
If the pad has cable and internet, all the better as you can entertain yourself while on reserve or use the internet to check crew scheduling.
A washer dryer isn't that important depending on how FAR you are commuting. Personally, I commuted coast to coast for a while so I needed one. If you live fairly close, then it isn't necessary.

I did a trip recently and I found that it is important to select somewhere to crash that is reasonably nice. As long as it has a single bed, (preferably queen size) private bathroom, desk to spread out my maps and prepare flight plans for the next day - that will do me. oh don't forget internet capability although I am wireless so I can check the weather anytime!
I have slept in bunk beds and it is really hard to sleep if you are an adult and it really effects your flying with the lack of sleep the next day.
Sure if you are a real cheap skate you could sleep in the plane or camp out at the aerodrome but trust me if you are flying a plane for 6+ hours a day on a cross country trip, it is best spending the money and getting a decent motel/hotel room, meal for the evening!
Especially if you want to get lucky with ladies in town!

I'd go w/single beds.
That way your "co-pilot" won't shake the bed and keep you awake.
