Numbness after blood extraction?

I was asked to get a complete blood count by my doctor yesterday and since they had trouble getting a sample from both my arms they took it near my hand i suppose it was the radial artery (below the thumb). My problem is i'm starting to get bruising on the spot they extracted the blood and feeling some numbness on my thumb, pointer and middle finger. Should I be alarmed? Or is that common

Update:

i'm not worried about the bruising as i tend to bruise very easily. I'm worried about the numbness. I've been having this tingly sensation/numbness for two days now.

When taking samples from the radial artery, sometimes, by accident, there is a small piercing in the branch of the radial nerve that supplies the external surface of the thumb..

Its a very common and uncomfortable side effect of the procedure, however, it subsides alone in 8-10 days.... a perfectly reversible condition-...Nothing you do, or add, or even take as medicine, will reduce the time of recovery...

Sorry about your distress...however nothing grave is there....

Relax, keep your thumb in a resting position ( a stright thumb splint can help)
