Subjective, objective, subjective objective...
...nah, leave it as it is - it's safer to stick with 'who' nobody laughs at when you say 'who', but when you say 'whom' everyone cracks up.
'Who was that laughing?'
'To whom was that laugh directed?'

It came out in the early sixties, when the only people who said 'whom' were the Royal Family and the aristocracy. If the BBC had announced the start of Dr Whom nobody would have watched the bloody thing

Dr. Whom doesn't sound as good as Dr. Who.

I've got that book .... Dr. Whom, it's perfect for me. It's pedantic about correct English and yet, it has space ships in it.

In an alternate universe at the BBC a long long time ago...
Producer: "So, anyone come up with a good concept for a story?"
Writer1: "Yes, yes I have, how about a story about a guy that travels through time and helps people out."
Writer2: "Why who he do that?"
Writer1: "He's a Doctor, of course."
Writer3: "Doctor Who?"
Writer1: "Precisely."
