hair on infant testicles?

Question

While changing my 4 1/2 month old son, I've noticed quite bit of 'peach fuzz' on his testicles. This is my first son, as I have two daughters, but I know this isn't right. I'm also a nurse, but don't even remember hearing of anything like this. Is there anyone else out there who's seen or heard of this? Is this something I should bring up to his pediatrician at his next check up? Don't know if it's of any significance, but he was 1 month premature, but is already in the 95% for his height and weight, and wearing 9-12 month clothes.

Update:

Just a note, I do realize that most preemies are hairy. He, however, is not. And the "peach fuzz" on the genitals just came up a week or so ago. This is why I was questioning his hormones still being out of whack at 4 1/2 months

As a nurse I would expect you to know that hair is everywhere on the human body, some moreso then others. 

Speak with your doctor if you have a concern over testosterone levels but it is likely due to the baby being born premature. They often retain a significant amount of hair.

My son still has peach fuzz on his scrotum. Its normal. No you dont have to bring it up to his doctor, but if you want to go ahead. Watch as he gets older. My son still has pech fuzz on his ears for crumbs sake. They are producing testosterone even at a young age so hair growth is to be expected. Dont worry mom!

This is very normal.  minor hormonal imabablances can casuse many things like this..hair on the the genitals is not a problem.  My daughter even had hair on her back at 2 months,  it went away shortly.

Normal for a premature baby. Your next visit your paediatrician will advise you on it.

I think its normal I've never heard of that, but doesn't sound like its something bad. I'm pretty sure it'll fall off.

while it may not be anything to worry about, why not, during his next check-up, ask the doctor what he thinks.
