The better apartments are somewhat like hotels, they have front desk help, to sign for your deliveries, help you get things up to your apartment, get your dry cleaning, open doors hail taxis..etc. Your apartment will have it's own living room bathroom, bedrooms, some even have dining rooms, depending on what you get, warning a studio is one big room, with a small kitchen area and a bathroom, no separate bedroom!

Also know that the concierge does expect a tip for services!

The apartment wants you to feel safe, and offers amenities such as exercise rooms, laundry facilities, some have a lounge area and a pool.

Come for a visit, and check out areas and apts before you decide!

LOL well I live in Manhattan and trust me finding a apt is not easy looks like the places you are looking for are some of the better ones which means about 2k a month for rent. If you are looking for some thing a bit more affordable I do agree with the previous poster criagslist.org and the village voice, and you might also try citihabitats

Haha yea finding an apartment in nyc can be confusing!!!

Some apartment complexes do have gyms, saunas, lobby. However, these are probably some of the more upscale apartment complexes in the city in nice neighborhoods which will result in high priced apartments.

Most apartments are pretty old and don't have all of this.

That is exactly what it is. You have your apartment and the exercise room and sometimes laundry and even pools are amenities and shared by the residence of the building.
