Creationists, do you believe in Genesis 1 or Genesis 2?

According to Genesis 1, God created all the animals first, and then Adam and Eve.

According to Genesis 2, God created Adam first, then all the animals, and finally Eve.

In which of the two versions do you believe?

Update:

I'm not trying to bash, I'm just asking a simple question. Was Adam created first or were the animals created first?

Update 2:

And yes, I mean chapters.

Update 3:

Genesis 2, 18-21 says that God created the animals after he had created Adam.

Update 4:

nocahmama, I don't know Hebrew and don't know if the translation with past perfect simple (that is what is used in the translation you quote) is the right choice for the translation here. The King James Version that most of you claim to be the only true translation says: "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air" after God said: "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." If someone who is able to read the Bible in Hebrew reads this he or she might clear this question, but I don't see high chances for that.

Genesis chapter 1 is a complete overview of the creation week. Genesis chapter 2 is a more detailed description of events that happened during the creation week. They are both accounts of the same story, same week. There are no contradictions between the two.

The verse you are referring to is obviously Genesis 2:19, "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."

The Hebrew verb translated “formed” could easily have been translated “had formed.” In his Exposition of Genesis, H.C. Leupold stated:

Without any emphasis on the sequence of acts the account here records the making of the various creatures and the bringing of them to man. That in reality they had been made prior to the creation of man is so entirely apparent from chapter one as not to require explanation. But the reminder that God had “molded” them makes obvious His power to bring them to man and so is quite appropriately mentioned here. It would not, in our estimation, be wrong to translate yatsar as a pluperfect in this instance: “He had molded.” The insistence of the critics upon a plain past is partly the result of the attempt to make chapters one and two clash at as many points as possible (1942, p. 130, emp. added).

Hebrew scholar Victor Hamilton agreed with Leupold’s assessment of Genesis 2:19 as he also recognized that “it is possible to translate formed as ‘had formed’ ” (1990, p. 176). Keil and Delitzsch stated in the first volume of their highly regarded Old Testament commentary that “our modern style for expressing the same thought [which the Holy Spirit, via Moses, intended to communicate—EL] would be simply this: ‘God brought to Adam the beasts which He had formed’ ” (1996, emp. added). Adding even more credence to this interpretation is the fact that the New International Version (NIV ) renders the verb in verse 19, not as simple past tense, but as a pluperfect: “Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air” (emp. added). Although Genesis chapters one and two agree even when yatsar is translated simply “formed” (as we will notice in the remainder of this article), it is important to note that the four Hebrew scholars mentioned above and the translators of the NIV , all believe that it could (or should) be rendered “had formed.” And, as Leupold acknowledged, those who deny this possibility do so (at least partly) because of their insistence on making the two chapters disagree.

The main reason that skeptics do not see harmony in the events recorded in the first two chapters of the Bible is because they fail to realize that Genesis 1 and 2 serve different purposes. Chapter one (including 2:1-4) focuses on the order of the creation events; chapter two (actually 2:5-25) simply provides more detailed information about some of the events mentioned in chapter one. Chapter two never was meant to be a chronological regurgitation of chapter one, but instead serves its own unique purpose—i.e., to develop in detail the more important features of the creation account, especially the creation of man and his surroundings.

this question is BS this is not genesis 1 and 2

this is genesis 1 and 2

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

and if your talk kin about chapter 2

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.

2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested [a] from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

    your just trying to bash.

in the bible Adam and eve were the last to be made. i read and you misquoted.

the Animals were made then Man then God gave Man authority over all animals then adam named each animal then adam went into a sleep. and eve was made then man sinned and sin and death came and the animals become vicous and c arnivourous. and mans years were limited and all that.

Genesis a million:2-3 additionally says there's a dome to chop up the waters above the Earth from the water under and the text textile then is going directly to assert the celebs, the sunlight and the moon are luminaries that exist to mild the Earth during the day and evening. The factors you will possibly would desire to be thoroughly loopy to study actually right now they only forget approximately approximately. Genesis additionally has 2 thoroughly separate creation memories that still contradict one yet another. They forget approximately approximately that certainty as properly. Fundamentalists regularly swear allegiance to the belief the text textile in infaliable. After that, they do what different branches do: They %. and decide. they are in a position to't do in any different case through fact particular issues a prominent guy purely won't be in a position to have faith and sound sane (the dome element). And different factors purely contradict one yet another so the two you %. and decide, or you will come back up with a schizophrenic view of the international. The dishonesty is powerful in those human beings. they are in a position to unquestionably effectively misinform themselves. And the Jews observed no project with 2 competing memories, of direction. They in no way study it that way besides. The fundie analyzing is purely stupid. To the Jews this replaced into area of a miles better training; a thank you to get the pupil thinking approximately mysteries. they could have been the 1st ones to easily stare on the fundies in disbelief: "you're attempting to tell me you think of it fairly is a narrative approximately how God is mad at mankind through fact some chick listened to a snake???? it fairly is what to procure from that???"

They're not really two different versions. You have to read it carefully, Because in the begininning of chapter 2 it says "Thus the heavens and the earth was finished and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God eneded his work which he had made, and he rested on the 7th day from all his work which he had made." This is Genesis 2:1-2.

So you can see that the beginning of chapter 2 wraps up chapter one, due to the fact chapter one ends on the 6th day, and chapter 2 begins with the 7th day. Also the originial writings didn't have chapter or verse, the reason our Bibles today have chapter and verse is so it would be easier for us to memorize bible verses.

Genesis 2 states that God had made all the animals and brought them to Adam to name them all. The word "had" is past tense, saying that the animals were already made when he created Adam and Eve."Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field andall the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them;and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name." Gen 2:19. I see no contadiction.

God created the soul of Adam and Eve first, then formed Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from Adam's rib. In context, it shows that man's soul was created from nothing. His body was formed from the ground. Remember, God created AND made man in Genesis 1 & 2.

  • vor 1 Jahrzehnt

    Er... do you mean chapters?

Genesis chapter 2 is a continuation of chapter 1.

Therefore God created all the animals then Adam and Eve and then chapter 2 explains the details of the animals and plants.

You are probably referring to The JEPD sources which have been identified in Genesis: Theory is that the passages were written by 4 authors: J--Jaweh -E Elohim-P Priestly and D Deutoronomy or Law writer---The Books are not dealing with anything but a theological view of creation and not a blow by blow ---The truth is still the same---God (YAHWEH) did it and that is what counts. The Bible says for instance that Jesus said "This Is My Blood" It is obvious this is symbolic language since we know it could not have been his blood.

Take The Bible as a Theological Work and Believe in The Creator.

I don't really see why you wouldn't look at chapter one as a chronological account followed by the anthropological account ( or story) in chapter 2.
