Who can speak Bulgarian and translate the lyrics of the Eurovison Song Contest 2007 entry for me?
This was my favorite entry this year...representing Bulgaria...Elitsa Todorova & Stoyan Vankulov and their drums...the tune is entitled Water. They repeat the same words throughout the song..one of them sounds like "meetralay". Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It may be hard for you to understand it... It's about a young woman and a young man who meet each other at the river and make love or something.... It sounds as strange in Bulgarian too!
("Mitre ley" is an appeal form of the female name Mitra, who is the main character. I translated it as "Oh Mitra")

Hi!
I am happy that so many foreigners liked this Bulgarian song! The text, though, is rather hard to translate. It is based on a folk song but Elitsa only uses a couple of verses. In a word, it is about a lass who is singing at the river bank and there comes a lad with his horse and they fall in love...The name of the girl is Mitra and what you hear as "meetralay" is actually a form of her name in vocative case + "ej" or "lej" which is just a meaningless sound sometimes used in Bulgarian folk songs...
Hope this sheds some light on the text.
Btw, the official websites of Elitsa and Stoyan are: http://www.stoyankoulov.com/ and http://www.elitsatodorova.com/ but there is no translation of the text there.
Best,
G.

properly, by applying now all of us understand the respond on your question. i ended observing the Eurovision music Contest years in the past. all of it have been given too political and maximum international locations do not vote for uk now. I had basically heard snippets of the united kingdom get right of entry to sung by applying Engelbert and that i assumed it became into so wishy-washy and smaltzy (pathetic) it hadn't a wish of prevailing. although i did not watch the tutor, I had considered a clip of the Russian grannies and that i became into hoping that they had won.
