Does tobacco smoking, enhance the intelligence?

The fact that most scientists and people in higher positions are smokers, suggests that smokers are smarter than non smokers.

Cigarettes contain carbon minoxide which decreases the amount of oxygen in the blood at any given time. If anything, it will decrease intelligence. If scientists smoke, they're smart in spite of their smoking, not because of it. Don't start smoking if you don't already.

No, it only makes you feel smart. you turn into a big smart a** and thats all.

The fact that most scientists and people in higher positions are smokers is probably the stress. they use smoking as a stress relief, but no matter what your excuse is its bad for you.

Lets look at this logically. Smoking kills you, it is the equivalent of putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger very very very slowly. Now just how intelligent does that sound to you? No doubt your correct in who is smoking, but most of these are cigar smokers who don't inhale. Smoking does relax a person thereby allowing them to think better under stressful situations but it does NOT make them smarter. IE. Your logic is flawed.

The fact that smoking is antisocial, smelly and causes cancer suggests that people who smoke are less intelligent, surely.

Show me your source that shows MOST scientists and people in higher positions are smokers. Sounds like BS to me.

    Are you kidding???

There are many, many intelligent people who don't smoke.

If you think about it, though, most of these "top people" who you talk about, are probably from a different generation where smoking actually used to be considered beneficial to you.

They are probably in a really bad habit and have problems quitting.

If anything, these "top people" are probably at the top of their games because of intelligence, but it's quite stressful and they find smoking as relaxing.

In any case-- if you don't think you're intelligent now, how bout trying to read a book, take classes, study people and things and learn to use what you have now...smoking is DEFINITELY not the answer.

I have to question how smart a person is who smokes knowing the health problems it causes. The first Deputy in Chief is a woman and she is a non smoker. She undoubtedly is the most intelligent person I have ever met.

So what does that say for the millions of unemployed, homeless alcoholics who are also smokers? Oh wait ... maybe they're not smoking the same cigs as the scientists and business execs. I'll bet that's their whole problem! They aren't smoking the smart cigs ... they're smoking the loser cigs! See? Nobody tells us this stuff! Just think of how many millions of lives would have been changed for the better if only they'd been smoking the smart cigs. It's really sad, isn't it?

First of all, I have NEVER heard of a scientist that smokes (because they would be aware of the health risks). Even if there was a scientist that smoked, tobacco WOULD NOT contribute to their intelligence...their education would!!!! Where did you get the idea that "people in higher positions" smoke tobacco? Because the reality is... THEY DON'T.

If that were true - I'm not sure it is - it wouldn't tell me that smoking equals intelligence. I think people in higher positions face more stress, which would make it more difficult to quit smoking. I quit smoking years ago, and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. I would have found it easier to give up food.

the fact that you started smoking in the first place should answer that question. smokers are not intelligent.
