Are European Refrigerators really small?
When watching British Sitcoms here in the USA I'm always struck by the fact that the families always seem to have a refrigerator the size of one used in a Dorm Room. Do Europeans really use refrigerators that small and not like the 6 foot tall ones we use?

Compared to American fridges they are small..I live in italy and it is more common to shop fresh everyday therefore needing less space...

Europeans tend to eat fresher foods. They don't eat as much processed foods and chips and sodas etc.. This may explain why Europeans aren't near as obese as most americans.
Big refigerators are available but not as desirable as in the US. A middle size is becoming more popular now these days. When one buys less ,less food seems to get wasted.Less room for junk foods. We are not hot on using lots of energy-our utilities are more expensive then in the US.

Yes i have friends in Germany , they have a fridge the size of a dishwasher - super energy efficient and big enough for a couple with no kids .We should have them here.

big ones are available but europeans tend to shop daily and have no need for a gigantic electric guzzling fridge.
