Have you had, or do you know anybody that has had their arm broken by a swan?

Question

I think it is a bit of an old wives' tale that a swan can break your arm. I know they are large and powerful birds but I'm quite confident in my belief that if I was attacked by a swan, I would have put it's head on back to front and therefore, quite catergorically broken it's neck, long before it could stand the most remote chance of breaking my arm. I've got two arms, it's got one neck. It stands no chance.
But is it still, like treason or something if you kill a swan? Or have I got all of this wrong, and should be ignored? And hung?

No,but I nearly had a leg broken by a goose once-the leg from ankle to halfway up the calf turned purple from the bruising.It attacks by pulling its wings back and then slamming them forwards at an incredible speed.As a swan is much bigger than a goose then,if it attacks in the same way,it could quite easily break an arm or even a leg.

Not a swan but a Canadian goose broke an ex bosses leg in two places . Strong vicious birds!

When I was 10 years old, my family was at a wildlife park and I wanted to feed the swans.  They sold corn to tourists for that purpose.  So as My dad and I were feeding them, one of the more aggressive ones grabbed my Dad's finger and nearly ripped it off.  It whipped it's head around as it grabbed him and hurt him badly.  He required stitches and lots of work done to save his finger.  They move very fast and like any other wild animal will do lots of harm before a person has time to react so I wish you luck on killing one before it hurts you.

I thought one broke my shin once. That long neck is like a whip and the hard beak at the end picks up a lot of velocity, like the cracker on a whip, on its way to hit you. 

It was the female, of course. I was standing near it's nest and it came out of the water like a bullet.

u r how old?  i had a grandmother who had a cousin that was killed by a chinese goose many years ago..every bone in her 11 yr.old body was brocken.... I'd say yea..BUT dont try to find out..some of the winged ones know how to protect their long necks... so beware of that too.

swans can be dangerous if you try to mess about with them while their guarding their eggs, they mostly spit at you, but if you try and catch one they do have a lot of strengh so i suppose it is  possible
