Due Date Question????
Why is it that my doctor's " wheel" to determine my due date says I am currently 7 weeks - based on the first day of my last cycle.... 1/28/2007
However, on thee website I go to (www.whattoexpect.com) the same information says I am 8 weeks?
I know you are going to say wait until I have my first ultra sound... scheduled next Monday - March 26.... however, I am just curious about the date... What do you think?
Thanks!
The doctor says I am due November 5, 2007
The website says I am due November 4, 2007
Only one day difference...at the end - but a whole week's difference now? How is that possible?

First of all, its only a rough estimation. Those wheels or charts are based on a typical 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14. Not usually the case, lol. Secondly, when I put your dates in it came up with similar results. You've completed 7 weeks so you're in your 8th week. But you haven't completed the 8th week, so they consider you 7 weeks (until that 8th week is completed). Make any sense? Currently, I'm in my 18th week, but I'm called 17 weeks. I'm 17 weeks and 5 days actually. Best of luck to ya!

ok i used a theory calculator and a calendar, I counted back 14 weeks from this coming Tuesday and that's what I have been given: First Day of ultimate Menstrual era:January 8, 2008 in all risk Date of Ovulation: January 22, 2008 attainable Dates of theory: January 18 to January 26, 2008 Due Date: October 14, 2008 (40 weeks) i'm hoping this permits.

Probably the doctor's wheel is realy 7+weeks but you were told 7weeks. In any case the most accurate reading you can get is as a result of the ultra sound which determines your due date basically on the size of the feotus(although your LPD is also necessary). I am quite sure that you may get yet another date but not too far from these you already had. Congrats!

Usually what they do is take the first day of your last period (1/28/07) and go back three months - then add 7 days. So for you it should be October 28th plus 7 = Nov. 4th:) Try going to babycenter.com - it's a weekly update of your baby and things that are going on in you and it's a really great resource. Congrats:)

For the most part it all depends on your weeks. I was like 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant but because it started on a monday the internet calendar that I have (www.babyzone.com) said I was in my 18th week. But their close enough not to worry about. I am sure they are doing the same thing. You could be off by a couple of days anyway.

Well i would go by you LMP always. I know the ultrasound will measure the fetus to see but you should always go by your LMP because an ultrasound can be wrong.
First day of last menstrual period: January 28, 2007
Estimated date of conception: Sunday, February 11, 2007
End of 1st trimester (12 weeks): Sunday, April 22, 2007
End of 2nd trimester (27 weeks): Sunday, August 5, 2007
Estimated Due Date: November 4, 2007

Ahhh, modern medicine. There's really no way to tell unless you know what day you concieved. Your cycles determine your due date. Your doctor's wheel is based on a 28 day cycle. If your cycle is longer, you will have to add days. I would go by the ultrasound. They seem to have the dates right on.

because the website say what week you going through. So if you are 7 weeks according to the dr you are 7 weeks but to the website you are starting your eight week. So you'll be 7 weeks and 3 days but the website will say 8 weeks because you are going on your eith week. I know confusing!! good luck and congrats!!

The number of weeks needed to calculate vary depending on the method used... the article cited below explains the various methods that can be used.
What is important is that the web calculators and the doctor both give a due date almost exactly the same...

i jsut looked at that website and it's when you calculate when you think you concieved it said i was 8 weeks and 1 day on the 1st day of your last period calculator it said i was 7 weeks. i think you should go by what your doctor says. the way they calculate (1st day of your last period) you are aproximately 2 weeks earlier than that. but that's the way they do it so it will be less confuseing throughout your pregnancy if you do it the same as them. Good luck congrats on the baby!
