Connecting a laptop to a television......?

On your desktop - 'Right Click' and choose "Properties"

Go to the 'Settings' tab

This will typically show your dual display - laptop and the output to chipset (in turn the tv port). Choose the second display and your screen should be visible on the TV.

If you have a ThinkPad, then Fn + F7 should open the display settings, where you can configure display on both laptop and TV.

Your laptop likely doesn't have a modulated output for tv, if it has a TV output at all. Is it a DVI output (15 pin white connector) or an RCA output (single yellow round stereo-type connector), or a SCART adapter? In any case, no channel will tune to it. You need to set your TV to video 1 or 2, depending on which input you connected it to on your TV.

If you're in Europe, you have to make sure your video output is PAL and not NTSC.

If you're using an inline powered adapter from VGA to TV, it might modulate the output. In Europe, channels aren't preset to specific frequencies, so you might have to scan for the signal by auto-programming your TV with the laptop connected and external video selected. A modulated adapter in America will likely be preset to channel 3 or 4.

I guess there are too many variables. We need to know where you are and what type of laptop you have.

Usualy once you have connected the laptop you have to find the right channel its being displayed on, live AV2 OR AV3 ect? Thats what i have to do, look on your tv remote, there should be a button on there to change it. Im sure there is no setting you have to do on your laptop, i dont!

You are setting it up for dual monitors. Click on the monitor labeled "2"

On settings, configure it to be in use.

You can also configure the relationship between the two screens. When a picture comes up you can drag open windows into your tv from your laptop.

Try one of these, i forget which:

ctrl+f5 and so on. Do them while there plugged in to the tv.

And make sure your on the right channel. The button to change might say, video, input etc.

No details as usual, if you are going to post technical questions, no laptop make or model! Do you even know if your lpatop has a tv out port?

if u r sure the leads are correct then i suggest you try thee AV button on your remote or go into the program you are using and press Ctrl f5 once or twice depending on your computer
