What do you think about this vision of hell?
I don't believe in hell, but I would just like to hear from others what they think about the following visions of hell.
"We have readied a fire whose billowing folds will encompass them from all sides; and if they beg for water, they will be given water [hot] like molten lead, which will scald their faces: how dreadful a drink, and how evil a place to rest!"
"Every time their skins are burnt off, We shall replace them with new skins, so that they may taste suffering."
As two people noticed, this is the Muslim hell, my quotes were from the Quran. I wanted to see what Christians say about it when they don't know where it is from. Thanks for all your different answers, I put this to vote.

I don't think much of it.
HELL IN KJV
One Hebrew word “sheol” is rendered hell. Definition; hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), grave, hell, pit. Three Greek words are rendered hell; geenna, hades, and tartaroo. Definition of geenna; a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: - hell. Definition of hades; properly unseen, that is, “Hades” or the place (state) of departed souls: - grave, hell. Definition of tartaroo; (the deepest abyss of Hades); to incarcerate in eternal torment: - cast down to hell. Tartaroo is used only one place II Pet.2:4.
Christ teaching the Pharisees in Luke 16:19-31 shows us a separation from God is truly what hell is. The “water” is symbolic for God’s Spirit and love. The word “tormented” means distressed in the Greek, not torture. The “fire” is symbolic for the shame and desire not to be separated from God.
So all who die the first death of the flesh return to God Ecc.12:6-7, but on which side of the gulf do they end up?
Hell is not eternal but is done away with in Rev.20:14-15, called both the second death and lake of fire. This second death is non-existence, for death and hell and those not written in the book of life. This second death or lake of fire is like fat drippings that fall into the fire. Just a poof of smoke into non-existence.
Psa.37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
In my mind what’s worse yet is no memory of you, no tears will be shed for you like you never existed.
Rev.21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
So hell is a separation from God and is not eternal torture or burning. Eventually hell will be done away with or passed away and also some souls. Like fat drippings in the fire, a poof of smoke into non-existence, the second death.

I grew up in a Christian household, and my father has studied the Bible for as long as I can remember, but I myself am not completely sure how the Bible describes Hell. I know if I asked my father he could tell me what it says.
But I read a book once called 32 minutes in Hell (I think it was 32), and it described a Christian who says that one night he was sent to Hell to be able to tell others that it is in fact real and what it was like. He described being thrown into a jail like cell that was so dark he couldn't see anything, but he could hear growling coming from the corners of the room. He said all of a sudden the creatures attacked him, ripping the flesh from his body, and throwing his body around the cell. He said the air was so hot that it burned his lungs to breath and that no matter how much pain he was in, there was no escape. He said that he finally got free and left the cell and he could see in the distance a fiery inferno surrounding a pit and cold hear screaming and crying. He said that he walked towards the pit. He was in a cave and all around him on the walls were creatures chained to the walls and above him the cave seemed to rise forever. He could see horrible creatures all around the pit and could see people in the pit trying to escape. He could also see smaller pits containing only 1 soul and he described having this feeling of such sadness and despair, and said that not once did he have the thought to pray, because all beliefs and memories of God were erased from his mind. He said that he saw a light at the top of the cave start getting bigger and it drew him towards it. He finally exited the cave and was surrounded by a bright white light, and could see the sillouete of a person in front of him and he immediatly knew it was Jesus. He said that he felt such love and relief that he fell to his knees, and that Jesue placed his hands on his shoulder and explained to him that what he had just endured was so that he could tell those who don't believe in Heaven and Hell, that they are in fact both real and that those who choose not to believe will one day be in the awful place that he was just in.
This man has spent all his life since then, preaching to others about his experience.
I personally completely belive in the existance of Jesus, God, Heaven, and Hell. And I would never want to end up where he described.

That sounds terrible. Good description though.
But there won't really be any "we's" that will be able to do anything, like with the skin. Even Satan himself will be suffering in hell like the rest of those who wouldn't trust Jesus as their Lord and be saved from hell.
I think that hell will be terrible because God's peaceful presence will totally be gone forever. And people who have tremedous lusts that they were once able to give into in this world, they will no longer be able to satisfy it, ever. ick.

Yes, Hell is a place of eternal torture. In the Bible is speaks of Hell as the place "where the worm dyeth not."
In addition to burning, all people in Hell will have worms.
Also, Jesus describes it as a lake of fire. Everyone who does not believe in Jesus, Jesus is not amused. He said that Hell will be eternal.
Even righteous people, if they belong to a religion whose God is not Jesus, are destined for Hell. Jesus wasn't kidding when he said either you believe in me or you will burn forever.
Your best bet is to go to your local Baptist church and kneel at the preacher's altar, and do the special incantation. In that incantation you declare extra belief in Jesus. This appeases him.
Ever since the Baptist started doing that Jesus has regarded them with great fondness, and has granted them a guarantee. This way you can be sure of avoiding Hell. The other religions cannot provide this guarantee, and most of the people in other religions will burn in Hell.

Sounds like something that is applicable to the physical realm of existence, not the spiritual torment-based version.

Those that believe in God and also believe in hell are grossly mistaken. God and Hell are two totally incompatible ideas. No perfect being would ever need a hell.

Sounds rather like Dante's Inferno or this administrations answer to anyone who asks questions or dissents.

That describes a purely physical version of hell.

Hell is so indescribably horrible, no one should want to go there or wish for anyone to go there.
