Did Bush ever say we'd be out of Iraq by a given date? When did he say it and what date did he give?

My memory takes me back to feeling dread when hearing we were going to Iraq (again) and this time no end in sight. Others are telling me Bush guaranteed we would be out in a year.

No, he never gave a date, and always said it would be when the job is done. He also said that the War against Terror would take many years, and that in order to win it, we must be in it for the long haul (paraphrased). He repeated this in many of his speeches in preludes to Afghanistan and Iraq.

All this other crap people are saying is just not truth.

All this grandiose talk about 'exit strategies' is the silliest thing ever. Nobody in the world ever went into conflict with an 'exit strategy' except victory. And the same with withdrawal dates, etc. To talk about this is to exhibit a profound lack of historical knowledge about war and conflict.

Hmm... I seem to recall that no one ever said this would be a quick war and warning the American people to buckle up for a long ride. Granted, it wasn't phrased quite that way (but then, I've always been the poster child for political incorrectness so I wouldn't be able to state things in a PC manner!).

No one has given a date and they shouldn't give a date. If a date is given then insurgents will escalate and then explode on the day after we leave. It is better to do it quietly and discretely, that way there is little planning possible from the terrorists.

He said the war on terror would be a long one! Don't you people get it! The Islamic extremes have been attacking us since 1972 probably longer. They have killed Americans all over the world. They want us dead.

So here's the deal We kill them first! President Bush is the first one that has tackled this Jihad against AMERICA head on!

recently bush said that the decision to bring troops home from iraq would be made by "another administration". passing the buck i'd say, so i guess we'll have to impeach bush and cheney in order to speed up the process...

No, he hasn't. Sadly neither party has any exit strategy. The GOP still thinks we can win and the Democrats don't because they NEED the war to hold against the GOP to win in November.

    No dates where ever given.

"turboweegie" ... don't make the mistake of actually making sense here on Yahoo! People won't know what to do with logic.
