I work in a middle school and may have the opportunity to start one -- but will I be making a mistake if I choose it? Why? Thanks for any specifics you can give.

The computer in question does have a CD/DVD drive and doesn't presently have an operating system. I do have access to the internet through work or library and could download info ont to a CD.

I see some profiles where people are open to instant messaging but when I try, I get an error message. is there a program I need to download? Take me through step by step, if you would be so kind.
