  • Memory Compatibility?

    I am confused:

I have a new mobo with dual channel (4 memory slots) - on it are 2 sticks - both have the below sticker:

    Samsung 512 MB 1Rx8 PC2 5300U 55 12 D3

    M378T6553CZ3 - CE6 0702

they are sticking in slots 0 and 3 (one is black, one blue)

I want to upgrade the memory by using 2 x 1 GB so my question:

will these sticks in slots 1 and 3 work fine???

    KINGSTON ValueRAM 1 Gb DDR2 SDRAM PC2-5300 CL5 (KVR667D2N5/1G)

(I am not getting the Samsung chips easily at my trusted shop)

    Thanks in advance!

  • Vista: Error 0x80070005 + runtime32.dll fails?

Here is one for the experts - it is driving me crazy for a week now - pelase read carefully to the end, 'cause I tried already a lot of common approaches...

from time to time I get the message that runtime32.dll stiopped working and has to be closed. Windows gives me the following solution: "This problem was caused by lmpgd10.ax (Follow the steps in the article to unregister this binary, e.g. regsvr32 /u lmpgd10.ax)"

wenn I try to execute the above command I get to follwing error:

"RegSvr32: module lmpgd10.ax was loaded but there was an error in call to the DllUnregisterServer (code 0x80070005)" + it recommend looking up a solution online :)

OK - now the code 0x80070005 means "access denied" so far my WinKnowledge goes

I follwed the advice to check teh registry on "DCOM Default Access" and I don't have a value in there (which should be like good ???)

I tried following some advice to tweak the DCOM general settings, but that was a walkthrough for XP-SP2 and not Vista...

    Thanks!

  • Mobo connected - no start - please help?

    I am installing a mobo in a P4

I connected every cable as it should be (I have photos of how it was connected before, so it should be all correct)

I installed the CPU and the cooler and RAM and all other stuff

I connect to power, a green LED on the mobo shows me it is getting power

I press the power button and nothing happens... really really nothing - no fans whirling no POST nothing

What can be using this - which connection should I check?

    Thanks

  • Fujitsu/Siemens Amilo D1840 Question?

I am repairing/maintaining my borther's laptop (P4, 3GHz) . I got some questions not being an expert in laptops myself

    1) the hard drive seems to be stuck and can't be taken out - should I use force or is there a trick to get it free

    2) it is overheating a lot even if just let run for half an hour, then the processor shuts down - any suggestions to improve this? (I will get it a cooling base anyway)

    3) The battery is gone (it works only when connected to wall power - how can I exchange the battery, can a exchange batttery be bought separately (cost?)

    4) The keyboard is missing some letters (?!?!) the rest is sticky (I diagnose a coca cola accident :) ) can the keyboard be exchanged / bought separately?

    Thanks in advance

  • Installing Old Hard Drive In New PC (Vista)?

The motherboard of my P4 got fried the other day - 'cause I got no time to wait if and when I will have repaired it etc. I got a new comp with Win Vista (Home Premium)

Now I want to transfer my valuable data from the two hard drives (IDE) of the old one to the new one. The other machine being dead, the only possibility I see is to install the drives directly as add-ons to the new system (it has a SATA thingy drive already), but also an unused IDE connection inside

    My questions to the process:

    1) is the power connection still the same - can I just connect the two HDDs to the plugs dangling inside the case?

    2) will Vista format the drives on detection and if yes, at least give me a chance to at least stop it?

    3) any other things I should think about (except for the normal HDD installation routine)

    4) Am I getting old, just because I don't trust a new OS? (no answer to this one needed :))

    Thanks!
