Will you sign the White House petition to ask Trump to put his assets in a blind trust?

With 100,000 signatures, the White House is legally required to respond. Not necessarily to comply, but to at least respond.

1 AntwortReligion & Spiritualityvor 7 JahrenProgressive Catholicism - How is it reconciled?
The standard teachings of the Catholic Church are pretty firm when it comes to things like same-sex marriage, contraception and abortion. However, there's also a pretty sizable number of progressive Catholics who tend to be a little "softer" on these issues than Church leadership tends to be.
As someone who tends to be socially liberal, I'd like to hear the thoughts of progressive Catholics on these topics (or anything else along similar lines). How do you reconcile the apparent conflict (either you personally or possibly even your local parish)?

In this footage, Romney is clearly giving a particularly blunt and unfavorable opinion of half of Americans as well as other issues. What do you think of the tone of these comments vs. his tone when he knows he's on camera?

20/33 at the free throw line. That's 13 missed points in a game that was decided by only 10 points. Why did they shoot so badly at the stripe tonight?
7 AntwortenBasketballvor 10 JahrenLots of pink accessories (neckties, handkerchiefs, etc.) at the Heat/Mavs game - anyone know why?
A couple folks in the broadcasting team were wearing pink accessories, and some of the towels they were giving to players were pink - anyone know why? Was it a charity (breast cancer, maybe) awareness thing?
5 AntwortenBasketballvor 10 JahrenWhat happens if the inbound pass touches the backboard/rim/basket before it touches a player?
Scenario: Player A is attempting an inbound pass alley-oop to Player B, but the pass hits the backboard before it touches any other player. Would play proceed? Does the clock start at that point, or does it not start until the ball touches a player? Or is it a violation that would result in a turnover?
4 AntwortenBasketballvor 1 Jahrzehnt25 years after the Challenger disaster, where do you want the space program to go?
25 years ago today, seven astronauts and the space shuttle Challenger were lost. They are not forgotten: Michael J. Smith, Dick Scobee, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Christa McAuliffe, Gregory Jarvis and Judith Resnik.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenger_disaster
Clearly, we're at a crossroads for space exploration. The aging shuttle fleet is being retired and the Constellation project has been canceled (or at least indefinitely delayed). The bravery and sacrifice of many astronauts over the years has not been in vain. The scientific developments have had massive impact on modern life and technology. The inspirational voyages have had immeasurable impact in their illustration of the American spirit.
Where would you like us to go from here? Some would like the Constellation project restored. Some would like to turn space travel over to private business. What would you propose as the future of NASA and space exploration?
6 AntwortenOther - Politics & Governmentvor 1 JahrzehntBlaming each other for the shooting - are we falling apart from fear?
The right blames the left, the left blames the right. Rush blamed Obama for being incendiary and a "professional agitator" on his show today. Many web sites are re-posting Sarah Palin's map with gunsights targeting the Representative who actually was shot this weekend.
This seems to go beyond even the usual political hyperbole. Are the actions of this single madman so beyond reason that either side is terrified that he might be one of their own and is thus desperate to pin the blame anywhere else?
Is this response an indication that we're not afraid of the right or the left - but rather afraid of ourselves?
6 AntwortenPoliticsvor 1 JahrzehntDoes anyone fear the Miami Heat anymore?
They're routinely proving that they can't win against strong teams. They're barely above .500.
Their nine wins came against: Philadelphia (twice), Orlando, New Jersey (twice), Minnesota, Toronto, Phoenix, and Charlotte.
Orlando and Phoenix are the only playoff-caliber teams they've beaten so far.
Meanwhile, they lost versus: Boston (twice), New Orleans, Utah, Memphis, Indiana, Orlando and Dallas.
Does any playoff contender have any reason to fear the Heat at this point? Who could they actually beat in a seven-game series?
9 AntwortenBasketballvor 1 JahrzehntWhat do you think is the "breaking point" for the Heat?
At what point does Riles fire Erik Spoelstra and try to turn things around? He can't be happy with three *massive* contracts and a team on pace for 47 wins.

Arkansas school board member Clint McCance is willing to celebrate the suicides of gays and that he would disown his own kids if they were gay - is this appropriate behavior for a school board member?
Does his encouragement to suicide make him a more effective or less effective school board member? Is he setting an appropriate tone for what kids should grow up to be?

Tea partier Lisa Graas has bravely stepped up to denounce Mike Pezzano and the other brutish men who violently wrestled a solitary female protester to the ground before stomping on her. Do you think other tea partiers will defend her, or will they side with Pezzano and other men who use physical force to subdue women?
