Is there an alternative to Adobe flash player ?

If you are playing swf files locally, most video players can do that, but sometimes swf files are not fully compatible. The standalone Adobe Flash Player is still available for downloading and playing Flash files without the web browsers. In a word, stop using Adobe Flash Player in Chrome or Firefox. It's officially terminated by Adobe, Google, Firefox, and Apple. Most importantly, it's not safe. 

You can still get Adobe flash player and you can still download alternative flash players like pepper. The problem is now your antivirus anti-malware recognizes any flash player as malware and removes it.

It's considered malicious malware by the antivirus.

Even Microsoft has designed a tool to remove it from their browsers. The alternative appears to be HTML5

Just be patient and pretty soon your applications that depend on flash like the Hewlett-Packard solution center they'll patch it so that it'll run with HTML5

Flash was supposed to gradually die off with HTML5, but it still persists.  Most things you needed Flash for is built in to HTML5.
