No, they didn't.  They said that it was to prevent fraud and ensure that citizens could vote if they wished.  In other words, to ensure that the election was not stolen.

The Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson and a whole bunch of other wealthy Republicans have been doing that for years. Adelson donated hundreds of millions of dollars to GOP and Trump.
