Why did a UPS driver try to open my front door.?
I was sitting in The living room when I heard the squeaky handle of the glass door behind me turning. Its very obvious when the handle gets turned and someone is coming inside so I just thought for a second it was my brother coming inside. The door was locked though. Then I hear the doorbell ring and I whip around to see a UPS driver had dropped a package and was walking away. Why did he test the door? Its happened twice now and I kind of feel like he's testing the door to tell someone he knows which houses are unlocked for an easy score. My other theory is that he is used to the double sets of doors in my neighborhood so he might have wanted to knock on the second wooden door and was going to open the glass door so he wouldn't be knocking on glass...only the wooden door was wide open and he could see straight into the house. What do y'all think

Was the inner wooden door open both times? Maybe he took the inner door being open as an invitation to leave the delivery inside the door? It's quicker than having to wait for someone to come to the door, especially if there are a lot of old people on the route. All kinds of local, unofficial ways of doing things spring up. I've heard of delivery drivers leaving deliveries inside the door before. Do you know your neighbors? Before calling the district office I'd ask them about UPS deliveries since it'll be the same guy on the route. Maybe someone can shed some light on the practice or y'all agree that it's sketchy and all make a complaint.

Phone UPS and ask their policy on putting stuff inside.?
AMAZON thieves wait till they see a package outside someones place and take it for themselves.
Keep up to the news.

You are too paranoid. if you don't want the UPS driver at your door but a note on your door where you want them to leave the packages.

I think you are a LOUSY fiction writer.
Yes, I did correctly answer the question you asked.

If people have two sets of doors, they quite often will leave the outer one open so parcels can be put inside rather than leaving them out the front exposed to potential theft. In these days of social distancing, I expect many people have asked for parcels to be put just inside the door if it is unlocked. He had probably spent most of the day doing the same thing. You were not singled out.

Our UPS driver has dropped off packages that way by opening the door and putting them in our entryway. We've had the same driver for a long time, though. Yours could have wanted to knock on the inner door, or put the package inside. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Their drivers are hardworking and trustworthy and just wanting to get their packages delivered.

Perhaps he was just being helpful and trying to leave your package in the porch rather than dump it outside for all to see. One of our delivery drivers will do that, he says he'd rather leave in inside if he can than out in the rain.
