Sole beneficiary ?
My parents had recently surprised me and my sister when they announced that in light of recent events they had made me (the youngest) the sole benefactor of everything. When they pass away everything goes to me and nothing for my sister. She understandably was upset but they also have her trust fund set up in a way that after they pass away she stops getting instalments. My sister had done some very stupid choices recently involving money and the family assets. Mistakes i didn’t make and my parents see me as more responsible and they want to secure a future for my son. (I have money, he’s secure) should my parents have done that to her? I mean if she needs anything she knows she can ask and i’ll usually just give in no matter what she asks for but is it fair?

We aren't here to be fair. But i think that in this instance, your parents were really cruel. Maybe trying to "teach her a lesson" but i think that this sort of thing does more emotional damage than to teach anyone a lesson at all.
Your parents' action in this case was very abusive. And honestly speaking? This could cause your sister to lash out and make even more mistakes because it will make her feel worthless and unloved. Mark my words.

I mean, it's not really for you or anyone besides your parents to say whether or not this was the right thing to do. If you make stupid choices, you wind up having consequences you may not like, it sounds like your parents want to make sure that they are not enabling your sister to continue to make poor choices. Fairness is up for debate, what does fair mean to you? In my mind, fair doesn't always mean equal.

It's their right to assign their estate to whomever they want just as it will be your right to share it as you wish when the time comes.

It's fair because you are more responsible and will take care of anything she asks for.
