so did u somehow think that a realtor will find u a renter FOR FREE? no, really? YOU should have asked a realtor how much money does he take for services. some take percent, some take a certain sum once

You should not feel bad, it is this person who is not being professional and stating up front their expectations and sounds very niave if he thinks the tenant is not where the money for his fee comes from

I rent out furnished apartments. A realtor approached me, he has a client that needs temporary housing from November 1, 2019 to February 1, 2020. I gave him a quote for his client of $1800/month, a discount over my usual $2000/month. Now the realtor is asking about a referral fee. I said a finder's fee was not built into the quote and that with a finder's fee the rent would be $1950/month, of which the realtor would get the extra $150. Now he says he "feels bad that his client is going to have to pay his referral fee" and that he'll tell his client the rent is $1800. WTF? Whose pocket did he think the referral fee was going to come out of? And why did he not tell me he expected a fee for a 3 month lease? Do realtors expect a fee for such short stays? I'm happy to give it to them, I know they work on commission, but shouldn't he have mentioned something prior to my giving him a quote?
