Can you have a Maine Coon Cat and a ASH cat in the same home?

All the cats I've ever had were shelter or stray cats. Now I'm thinking about getting a Maine Coon. Has anyone ever had experience with getting MCC which are quite large, and housing them with a regular size cat. I have a 3 y.o. ASH female. Please advise.

Update:

I'm not talking about a feral MCC. I want to get one from a breeder. Or possibly a MCC mix from a shelter but probably one from a breeder.

Update 2:

That's it I have a DSH

    They're just cats.

The only difference between them is their size. The teenager stage of a cat's life is longer in a maine coon because they are so large. They aren't fully grown until they are 2, so they are going to be acting out for a year and a half, in comparison to a standard sized cat that only goes through this for about 6 months. Thats about it.

Why not? But you don't have an American Shorthair. Did you buy this cat from a registered breeder? If not you have a DOMESTIC shorthair - a cat of no particular breed or mix like over 97% of cats.

THIS is what the American Shorthair looks like.

    It should be fine.

Sure, they're just cats. What breed or size they are has little, if anything, to do with whether they get along or not.

My experience with Maine Coon cats is that they are generally bigger and heavier (and stronger) than normal cats and CAN attack (and possibly kill) any rival cats. Brought up with other cats to start with, they are sociable. But if you have a feral Maine Coon cat - woah. Those things can fight off all but the largest dogs.

my limited experience with 2 Maine coons is that they are very friendly and love cuddles, tend to yield to aggressive cats
