What is the best way to intervene when kids or teens start fighting?

Don't intervene. Let them fight, and hopefully they'll kill each other.

Fire a few warning shots into the air. If this doesn't work shoot the ground around them.

With the minimal information you've provided, this question is difficult to answer.

In general, when teenagers are physically fighting, don't try to break it up by yourself because you may end up getting hurt. If they are verbally fighting, you could encourage them to move away from each other until they can speak calmly to one another.

My younger sister followed her "warring" teen boys with a video camera and then started playing their fight back at full volume. They stopped the fight to watch themselves on video.

Take off the belt, and swing for the fences!

Tell them to stop.

It depends upon who you are, and whether the parties who are fighting might have weapons. Unless you are very athletic, and are in a position of authority over them already, you're probably best off call the police.

Depends on what is going on. Physical fighting needs to be stopped. Verbally arguing may resolve itself. The adult needs to use their common sense because kids & teens do need to learn to resolve conflict.
