FIRST SOLO-Want critical feedback?

I know you don't improve unless you get feedback. In order to get feedback, you need to be able to watch me. Well, I am attaching video. This is a contemporary solo and that is a style I don't actively take. The choreography was difficult, but in this dress rehearsal performance, there were no errors with the choreography, I just wished I smiled a little more (I did in the recital). Please, tell me what you think, what I can work on, what about the musicality, can you tell what I was supposed to be? Just try not to be hateful, that is all I ask. Thanks.

Update:

I just wanted to add this so it helps make sense of the solo. We were doing the Theme- Neverland and I played the part of the "Neverbird" who rescues Peter from the island the Mermaids (My group dance) left him on. So I am supposed to be a bird in this.

Hi Lizardmomma. Nice job. You have come such a long way since you first started posting here. I won’t be as hard on you as I would for a professional or younger dancer because that’s not where you are coming from. Again you have really good musicality. But that you had from the very beginning. That is innate. I know this was a dress rehearsal but my suggestion is try to own the stage more. It isn’t about smiling. It’s being in the moment and owning it. At times it looked like you might have been too concerned with the next step. When you perform especially in a solo, you have to get out of your head and just perform the heck out of it. That will also help make your transitions a bit smoother too. Nicely executed shoulder roll by the way. Keep working on leg strength so you will gain more control as well as height on your leaps. Nice upper body and arms. Keep up the good work. Your efforts are really showing.

Reminds me of the bit in "The Big Lebowski" when the Dude's landlord does his dance-piece. His "cycle". But not in a good way.

    Wow! You go girl!

You move gracefully, your timing is in sync with the music. If you were my daughter I would be well proud of you! Well done you!
