What are your thoughts on Here Come the Warm Jets by Brian Eno?

Rock & Pop, what is your take on Here Come the Warm Jets by Brian Eno? Personally, I'd say that Here Come the Warm Jets is a fantastic album. It shows that Brian Eno was truly an innovator in numerous ways, as Here Come the Warm Jets is a bizarre and unpredictable listen. Here Come the Warm Jets is full of studio trickery & sound editing that was very advanced for 1974, and the album has a relentless sense of experimentation to it. Here Come the Warm Jets has so many twists & turns to it, and it's an album that reveals new surprises with evey listen. For me, Here Come the Warm Jets is a classic.

Excellent album, and it sits next to three other equally fantastic records. For someone whose previous gig in Roxy Music appeared to the untrained eye as "weirdo in drag squeezing noises out of a moog", he proved himself to be a very talented songwriter, a guy who had a knack for innovation and adaptation when it came to recording techniques and arrangements, and someone who had a host of talented friends/acquaintances to bring his songs to life.

BA1: Baby's on Fire, Blank Frank, Cindy Tells Me

BA2: Not the best voice in a technical sense, but it works very well for his music -- going from goofy hysterics to a calm and almost comforting tone. His lyrics are a lot of fun too.

BA3: In some sense -- it certainly predicts new wave and post-punk, which then subsequently influenced shoegaze and noise pop.

BA4: Are we including typical progressive rock in the "art rock" category? I've been a prog fan since hearing Pink Floyd and Genesis at 11, and I have steadily made my way through the various sub-categories and scenes since. Krautrock bands, especially Amon Duul II and Can, were particularly interesting finds.

    great album

BQ: baby's on fire, blank frank, driving me backguards

BQ2: i sort of like the wonky warble thing he does. lyrics are fine, but few really stuck with me.

BQ3: yeah, and post punk and new wave

BQ4: mixed bag, but i'm all in on the thread that sprang forth from a heavy VU influence, and i include this in that category
