    Hi, Leon,

I've worked in various jobs and have worked now for quite a few years. I understand your feeling nervous when starting a first job. This is something we have all faced when starting a new job. It is also something you feel, even when you are a highly experienced person. Here are some thoughts that I hope will help you:

    1. I can't think of any job I've had, whether it was working in an office while in college, or my current job, which is teaching, that hasn't made me feel nervous when I first started it. However, I want you to realize that there always seem to be people where you work who are eager to take you under their wing and help you until you can learn to "fly" on your own.

    2. Most likely, you will go through a good, time-tested training program. Bosses don't expect you to come in as a total expert, even if you do have experience in the area you are beginning a new job in. So before you even start your new job, try calling him (Monday, since you start on Tuesday) and talk over what you might be doing on your first day. That will help ease your jittery feelings and erase some of the mystery about exactly what you will do when you start working. Also, you can arrange to talk with the people you will work with before you start your job, so by the time you actually start work you will have developed a rapport with them.

    3. Enter the workplace with a smile at everybody. That sets a tone of friendliness. Wherever I've worked there have been people who accepted me with open arms (figuratively speaking). Realize that everybody really wants you to succeed, because when you succeed it makes all of you look good.

    4. Set out to do the best job you can. Your employer would not have hired you if he/she didn't think you could do the job, so that means that you should erase those feelings of self-doubt away from your mind.

    5. Realize that nobody comes in knowing exactly how to best do the job. Your boss knows that, and your fellow employees know that. Professional growth in a job takes time.

I hope this has helped you. Don't worry. Everybody will be nice, and after you've had your first day at work you can breathe a sigh of relief because you will realize that it really wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. Good luck and best wishes!

You shouldn't be worrying. You're not even there and it hasn't started. People like genuine people. People who are legit and show their real personality. Be yourself and people will love you. If you think people hate you, then you curl up and you cant be the real you. Have some confidence.
