Should CNN be allowed to track down the creator of that Trump video's private info and then threaten to expose him?

Update:

CNN bullied the kid, he's 16, into apologizing and he's begged them not to release his info. They've promised they won't IF he never exercises his free speech in this way again. Isn't that Blackmail?

No because right wing media would just expose someone without giving them a chance

Yes, of course they should. And thank God they did.

They should just shut up and leave it alone. I mean, what do they expect from childish dump and his equally childish worshippers?

Why? Because he made a meme? He didn't convince trump to use it nor did he have anything to do with trump. Why should I care about him at all? He doesn't make policy or even have trump's ear. He doesn't even have a following. He has no influence over anything. There are undoubtedly sh*tloads of dumb*ss posts around that nobody cares about. Why should we care about this one? The difference is Trump. So make it about trump, not about a powerless, voiceless kid.

Edit: How do you know CNN did that? Can you post a link? That would depress me.

Edit: I think you're mischaracterizing the article. It sounds like he apologized on his own without coercion, and his apology does sound sincere. However, I do think it's extraordinarily sh*tty for CNN to say they reserve the right to release his name. That's super super lame. It's like they feel they are entitled to judge others and determine whether to ruin their life based on CNN's own opinions.

Hmm! They've tracked him - so what?

CNN should face the full force of a displeased, disgusted American public.... and go out of business.

Should they be allowed to track him down? Yes. Detective work has never been against the law, the man put enough personal identifying information in his posts to be found in real life. Should they be allowed to threaten him with exposure unless he complies with their wishes? No, that's extortion in my book. Should a huge news organization waste time and energy tracking down some 2-bit memester who made a shitty gif just because the president retweeted it? No, no they should not. Is this a sign of Armageddon? Yes, I'm afraid so.

I thought somebody did track him down, a 15 year old kid.

Tracking down any evidence Trump colluded with the Russians was too hard.
