What will happen to us now, now that we re sold?

Will Verizon/AOL keep up this area, or close it down like Yahoo once did with Yahoo 360? How much time do you think we have before the end of this world?

Following a ticker-tape parade, in my honour, for my exemplary work, down 1st Avenue in front of Yahoo HQ,

Yahoo Answers will then be relocated to the Magic Kingdom,

where (you thought life is but a fairy tale and dreams really do come true, but) Verizon will charge you guys $132.06 daily admission plus 10¢/minute.

    I miss 360 :-(

Verizon isn't keen on this Yahoo Answers site, and neither were any of the other interested buyers. Don't know what they would want with Yahoo Mail, the Yahoos don't even use it.

So, if/when the stockholders and the FTC approve the deal, and it gets finalized sometime late spring of next year, watch for further structural deterioration, trembling walls, listen for breaking pottery then demolition explosions, then run for your life.

Official ownership isn't until the sale is finalized. That means approval by Yahoo's BoD, and by federal regulators. I don't see any problems arising on either of those fronts, and look for everything to be done before the end of the 4th quarter. In the mean time, Verizon will take a hard look at the existing Yahoo products. They will decide which ones are good stand alones and are keepers. They will choose which ones to integrate with existing products. They will also decide which ones will cost more to fix than what the expected returns would be, and likely drop those products.

According to Quantcast (a company that monitors internet traffic), Yahoo Answers traffic fell by 77% in November of last year (a month before the December glitch fest, that drove more people away). Answers also only accounts for between 1.03% to 1.74% of Yahoo's total traffic.

We don't know what Verizon will do and will not know until it happens or when the sale is finalized early next year.

Verizon probably doesn't know at this time either so Answers may stay or not.

Anyone saying it will or won't be shut down is just speculating as were all those others giving a definite answer about it being or not being shut down over the past while.

We can ignore inaccurate answers saying "Dont Believe In Anyone That Is Saying That Its Closing Down" since they do not know.

Do not believe any answers saying it is not shutting down as again they just don't know.

The deal will not be finalize until the beginning of next year and then you need to give Verizon time to make up it mind and announce their plans. All you are going to get here is speculation. I doubt anyone here are inside of Verizon. So wait and see.

Probably close it down. It isn't profitable imo.

One can only hope. Y!A lost its shine years ago.
