Matt.1:1-17; Abraham is in Genesis, how much time passed from Abraham to Christ Jesus? How much time passed Adam to Abraham?

There are difficulties trying to calculate the time from Adam to Abraham because you would have to know the year of Adam being created. Now, some Christians say there IS a date for that, which they've calculated from genealogical lists in Genesis, but they are assuming that those lists are complete and not just summary lists with some generations inbetween skipped. Those who say all the generations and life-spans given are complete say 2,008 years passed from Adam being created to Abraham being born.

Dates for Abraham are more secure. 2166 B.C. is given for his birth, based on when his father, Terah lived and died as in Genesis 11:32 and 12:4. As Abraham died when aged 175, (Genesis 21:5 & 25:7-10), there was then 1,988 years to go before Jesus was born (or 2,183 yrs from Abraham's birth). But bear in mind that there's no exact date for Jesus' birth - we know it was before Herod the Great died in April 4 B.C.E. Some say Jesus was born the same year, but there's reason to think it could have been a year or two earlier.
