Trump: a racist but one we can work with? Is that position of GOP Congressional leaders?

I don't think Republicans believe Trump is a true racist. He's just a guy who occassionally says racist things, like any other older person with no filter. Right now, most Republicans believe they can work with Trump and just control the damage from his off-the-cuff remarks, like admitting when they are sometimes racist. Other Republicans, though, believe Trump is too much of a loose cannon. They won't be able to keep up with the damage control, and Trump could cripple the future prospects for the party.
