I call the time to Jesus the Old Testament time, and the time after that to 2016, the New Testament time, does anyone else do so?

Plus or minus six year that's been done since Pope Gregory declared it so for the world. Russia, England and a few other holdouts for a while. It is now set by international treaty (a less objectionable method than Papal declaration.)

New Testament time is call the Christian Era and Old Testament time is called, with little imagination, before the Christian Era.

no. The NT is from His birth to His Ascension. And John's visions that are in the Book of Revelation. Then it's the end.

He said that the time after him would be a renewed testament.  Then of course some Romans changed that to "new".

I think our year should be zeroed to the first successful computer calculation or at least the discovery of electricity since those are arguably the most radical events in human history.
