Which of these Steam games would you choose to buy and why?

I've only heard about Stardew Valley and Morrowind. I recommend both but only if they are your type of game.

I recommend SV because as a little kid, I used to play a lot of Harvest Moon 64. I loved that game! So when I learned about Stardew Valley, I bought it immediately. The game is fantastic if you like these kinds of farming games. There is more to it than just farming though. There are interesting NPCs, some form of combat against monsters, exploration and even a tiny little bit of role-playing. I've played for just over 100 hours on it and I can safely say that another 100 is very much doable.

I also recommend Morrowind because it was the first true RPG I ever played. The game is long and sticks to what makes a true RPG experience. There is little hand-holding (no tutorials or quest markers or anything like it), a lot of player customization and you can get immersed very quickly. Mods make this game even better! The only downside I can think of besides bugs and glitches is the combat. This game took me a few months to finish only because the combat bored me and ruined the experience. You can quite literally miss an attack on a guy whom you just stabbed in the face at point blank!

I won't decide which is the best of these two because it really depends on YOUR type of game. In my case, I got hooked on Stardew Valley much more than I did on Morrowind, but there is more to do in Morrowind than Stardew Valley.

I have only played Stardew Valley out of the games you listed, so I cannot say which is best.

However, Stardew Valley is an EXCELLENT farming village game. I have played the majority of Harvest Moon games, and Stardew Valley has been just as enjoyable as the best of those. If you liked Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing, I highly recommend buying Stardew Valley. If you didn't love those games, pass on this one.

Stardew stands out from Harvest Moon with a crafting system. Instead of saving up x number of dollars for your next piece of farm equipment, you find (or buy) the parts and make it yourself. You will still have to go to vendors to get farm animals and buildings, but being able to make as many cheese presses and furnaces as you please is very satisfying.

I have yet to run into any of the obnoxious bugs that haunted some Harvest Moon games. I had several HM games where pieces of equipment/animals didn't function properly. So far Stardew has worked exactly as it should. Ive had one game freeze that cost me most of a game day's work, but my save file was fine and I could continue my game.

There is a solid online community for Stardew valley info. The game doesn't tell you how most things work, so you will need to look things up or figure it out on your own. Example: I bought a chicken coop and some chickens, but the game never specified how to feed them. I had to look up getting hay out of the dispenser (which looked like a feed trough) and put it into what I thought were perches (was the actual food trough).

If you like doing menial chores on an imaginary farm for the sole purpose of increasing its size and magnificence while attempting to befriend slightly aloof and particular villagers with gifts, you will love Stardew Valley. If you've never tried a game like this and it sounds fun, Stardew Valley is a fabulous title to start with.
