Good interpretations of hell in literature, film, or animation?
I'm trying to make a video game where a majority of it will be taking place in hell and I need some inspiration for the graphics I will be making. Any ideas will help. So far the anime Berserk comes to mind, also the scene in Constantine, also the Divine Comedy.

Ah, one of the first things that sprung to mind was Constantine before I finished reading the details of your question. I think it was a really good depiction of hell. Just watching it makes me feel like the air around me is getting thick. Another one you might want to check out is What Dreams May Come - with Robin Williams.

you may not know, but the place known as hell is only a "holding" area til those who are there will be sent to the Lake of Fire for their eternal lives...................and the LOF is where all of the nasty things happen - screaming, gnashing of teeth, constant torture, etc etc
