Do you think religious people or non-religious people are more likely to believe in conspiracy theories?

Please explain why you think so.

In my experience, religious folks are more likely to believe in such things, because they are less reliant upon evidence, more willing to accept special pleadings, and are less used to the kind of critical thinking necessary to come to rational conclusions.

I think actually, they tend to be by FAR the most common amongst irreligious spiritual, New-Agey sort of people! And I'm speaking from experience, as someone who's into alternative forms of spirituality, and therefore knows plenty of people like that...

Seems like a number of them will just buy into any ol' conspiracy theory, without really questioning it much at ALL, because it lines up with their existent worldview, and they think it's "close-minded" to use critical thinking skills... Which is kind of a bit misguided. :-P But personally, I think it is equally misguided to just dismiss everything that goes against your current worldview out of hand, because: "that's too far out and farfetched for my liking, and it doesn't align with my current paradigms of reality!"

..There IS such a thing as finding the golden middle path! So that, when people tell you about a new "conspiracy theory", (which is kind of a demeaning term, but oh well, there you go), you won't automatically accept it, AND you won't automatically reject it, either! Instead, you should research it on your own, and figure out if there just might be *something* to it, or if it is, in fact, just completely out of whack. With most so-called conspiracy theories, I find, there very well might be nuggets of truth to them, that are important to acknowledge! But then again, at the same time, it is also important not to exaggerate the cr@p out of them, to the point where no act of terrorism could ever just be what it seems like, at the surface level, because it's ALWAYS Big Brother or the Illuminati that's to blame for EVERYTHING that goes wrong in this world, or whatever have you... :-P

    Just my perspective. :)

Don't think it really matters! Many religious people are goofy, but so are many non-religious! Those who truly know God, don't believe in conspiracy theories!

Both. I believe anyone who is mentally unstable, doubtful, and suspicious of the nature of God will create certain conspiracy theories.

Numerous so called conspiracy theories have been proven true.

It is a fool who believes everything the media, the bankers, and the Zionist government tells them.

I know plenty of ridiculous conspiracy theorists from both groups.

I'd have to say the "believes without evidence" crowd takes that prize by a very wide margin.
