Christians and other believers: why do you think that atheists have not tried to believe in your god?

Most of the atheists I know -- myself included -- studied for years, sometimes decades and tried desperately to believe. Why is it that you think otherwise?

As a Christian all I can say is I like your question. You've said that you tried for years and just can't believe.

Most atheists answer because they don't have a real reason other than just because everyone else is saying Christianity and it's God is stupid and foolish. Peer pressure in other words is causing them to think that way. But why is that? It's not what they are learning in church? So it's what they are learning in school or on social media or television etc.

All that still hasn't answered your question.

For me. It's simple. Belief in God is accepting the reality that God exists. And that's it. We have this instinct when we are babies and learning life. There is always someone bigger and stronger than me that loves me and wants the best for me. That is your parents. You need that acceptance of their existence in order to learn and grow in knowledge of the world that is much bigger than you. And the world will always be bigger than you. So much so that when you die. You will not have discovered how big it is. Or even more. Why you existed at all.

And for all the answers out there between Christianity and atheism. What is the answer?

Should we really end our lives not knowing what will happen after death? Not knowing how we came to be?

For me as a Christian. Those answers are in the book called the Bible.

There is no other books quite like it. So much so that governments have tried to destroy it. Killed it's people or thrown them in prison. Stripped the rights of the believers so they could practice their faith.

For the Christian we have fellowship with the creator of the universe and with man and all living and nonliving things here that begins at faith and repentance and will endure past death and into all eternity.

That is the truth of the matter.

The lie is. That people thing what is written in the Bible is a lie.

So I ask you? What if what the Bible says. All of it. Is the truth?

How many gods have you tried to find?

Not trying to be snippy, just genuinely curious if you've tried to find Allah, or Vishnu, or Quetzalcoatl for example. Or just the version of a god that's most common in your culture?

I'm asking, because I don't think I've ever tried to find any god. Raised an atheist, the things I learned in school at an early age caused that the world around me made perfect sense without a deity. I can't remember a moment in my 28 years where I've even remotely tried to find a deity. People have simply failed to convince me of their beliefs.

As a one time Christian this old man tried to believe but could not get over-the-hump.

Christians are deluded and hardened enough to lose the ability to understand how someone can think differently than they so they dehumanize non-believers.

It eases their cognitive dissonance to rationalize that atheists are evil.

Don't ask questions like this. You're a troll, not an atheist.

I bet everyone here would have fun beating the living **** out of you if we met you in real life. Seeing you cry like a little kid after we give you an entertaining smack-down would be gratifying as ****.

Because the evidence is SO clear, SO overwhelming, anyone that puts in that much study WOULD believe -- IF they were reading correctly, and not listening to the lies from their friends.

Believing in God is simple, so anyone who does not has simply NOT really tried. There is no need for "desperation". "Desperation" is the result of your own poor thinking, your own willingness to believe to complex and preposterous lies, instead of understanding the simplest of truth.

You can TELL ME that you tried, but we SEE that you have not really tried.

    Just look around you.

Everybody who actually tried to believe in the force is now a Jedi. Everybody who has faith in the christian god is like a bulldozer moving mountains like its nothing.

The supposed atheists on Yahoo Answers are mostly rebellious children who can see through creationist claptrap and don't like being taken to church. If you've studied for years, you've probably been looking in the wrong place.

I suppose it might have something to do with so many atheists being in their teens, or asserting their atheism in their early teens. Obviously somebody in their teens, or who asserted atheism in their teens did not spend decades studying the issue. Couple that with the answers and comments/arguments forwarded by atheists being the same old boiler plate fallacious nonsense that has been around for centuries and answered so many times it defies sanity for one to take them seriously.

Christians in Yahoo Answers are no better than any of the 4Chan users. They like to troll just as much.

Who says I think you haven't tried?

I think some of you refuse to succeed, if even on a subconscious level
